Everyone's been finding such cool stuff lately that I thought I'd share a few scores of my own.
First up: This is the roll of towels that came with my Caloric Caddie. I don't think I'll use them...

I first came across this in a Bennett Bros. catalog and immediately started wanting one. No instructions were included, though I think I can figure it out.

Vintage Presto deep fryer/Dutch oven. Those fingerprint-looking marks are from the dishwasher and I was too lazy to get out the Cameo cleanser. I also cheated and painted the Bakelite parts white to match my frypan, coffeemaker, and corn popper.

Bon Vivant!

This coffee maker is hilarious. The box and (especially) the instructions wax rhapsodic about what a Gourmet Experience coffee will be and how proud you will be to serve it to your friends and how you have never tasted anything like coffee made by this new, scientific method, and on and on. It's basically a drip coffeemaker with a twist--only part of the water comes in contact with the coffee. The rest just goes right into the pot, diluting the "concentrated coffee essence" or whatever the hell they call it. The brewing method is a complicated, time-intensive process. After all that and the huge buildup in the instructions, I was expecting something really extraordinary. Keith and I both agreed--ehh, it's okay.

Last but not least

My Sunbeam Floor Conditioner. Don't look too closely--I haven't detailed it yet! I did manage to get a set of NOS brushes for it. Now I can keep my hardwood floors gleaming!

Hey Veg,

Well, I thought I was the only one that found one of those Bon Vivant coffee makers. Stumbled upon it at my local Sally's and just couldn't resist. Haven't used it yet, since mine was never used, but I'm sure someday I'll try it out.

Wish I could report some great finds this weekend, but, alas, there were none. Oh, well, there's always next weekend.

Oh Bob those are great finds. What a beautiful floor polisher. You will also need a set of lambs wool buffing pads to keep those floors gleaming!!

I'm really been impressed over the past few months looking at all of the teriffic finds you all have had at sales.

You know what would be even better? Why doesn't one of the more "experienced" finders make up a list of tips and hints to make your sales trips more successful?
Like where do you find these sales? Are they Goodwill store stuff, or estate sale stuff? Etc.
Now I think that would be really neat!

I don't really have any tips. Most of my crap...er...stuff comes from ebay. I make weekly rounds of the local thrifts but it's always hit or miss. Mostly miss lately. Used to be able to find lots o' Corningware but even that's in short supply lately.

I go round the thrifts if not everyday at least every other day, usually before noon but I'm not anal about that. Because they're always having people coming in and putting stuff out, you may just walk out the door when someone brings out something fantastic from the backroom. So hopefully it will be there the next day. Antiquers and dealers also frequent the places like clockwork as well. You pretty much have to go everyday though some of the stuff I find I know has been sitting there awhile.. ie there's a Hoover electric fry pan been at the Bibles thrift store for 2 weeks now and I keep humming and hawing if I should get it or not,, it's not the one with the broiler lid or else I'd have it NOW.. LOL

We have really gacky thrift stores here in St. Lucie County, Florida. We HAD a goldmine of thrift/collectible shops in Coral Plaza, on US 1 in south Ft. Pierce. Anastasia's Attic, Victory Children's Home, Pot O' Gold, Marilyn's Treasures, Safe Space, ALL in a row. I bought most of my treasured GE things in that strip, some funky mid century lamps, records, stereos, the whole thing except half of Victory, fell victim to the three hurricanes. Anastasia's moved before them and stunk in their new location. Victory moved and stunk in their new locale. They're out of business now. Coral Plaza has been buldozed. The stores left, are pathetic, except for the Mustard Seed in Fort Pierce.

Very nice pieces! I was going to comment about how much I like the relatively rare white trim pieces on the Presto, but I guess you got creative (LOL). It does look really nice!

Just for the record, the Dutch oven is the only piece I cheated on--the rest of 'em are genuine!

Oh, and I forgot a couple. Here's a fake cornflower West Bend Fiesta Perk:

And some genuine cornflower tiles. Using them as burner covers until I get my Electromatic percolator, which generally comes without the little trivet that goes underneath.

Not a find

But as long as I'm doing cornflower stuff, here's a meatloaf with "Cheese-Tato Topper" that I got from a recipe in an old Woman's Day magazine. I meant to take an "after" picture but Keith and I just sort of dug in, and it didn't look so great after that!
