No, not the GE, thank goodness! It's doing very well even with this high heat and humidity!
This is in the upstairs kitchen. We just pulled out the old Sub-Zero that had been a problem and was unused for maybe 6-7 years. Now we have to put in a new fridge where this one was built-in. It's a 36" wide by 24" deep cabinet. We found a great fridge with very good reviews and a good price, but it's about 32" deep so it'll stick out 8" from the existing cabinet (Kitchen Aid KBFS22EWMS).
To go with something significantly less deep, we'll have to either go high end or bargain basement. Neither is really an option.
We did find a Sub-Zero locally, used but in great condition. I've written the seller to ask the history of it, but also looked it up online. It's a model 550 in s/s. Seems SZ in general isn't exactly the consumer's favorite and has a history of repair issues. However, diplotop.com (http://diplo-best.com/review/SUB-ZERO/550) supposedly has 335 reviews of this model and it comes in at about a 7 out of 10.
So, does anyone have any experience with the SZ 550? Or any other ideas for a more shallow fridge?
Thanks,
Chuck
