I am looking at buying a new fridge. I want something with 2 doors and about 200 litres total. As we have solar power I will need something of exceptional efficiency. We currently have a gas fridge but if I choose carefully we can run an electric fridge.

Gram, a Danish brand, makes one that looks just right, it is model KF220-11. It uses about 215 kwh/year, which is about half what similar fridges in Australia would use. It has slightly thicker walls and uses a different refrigerant, R600a. The Gram is not sold in AU but is available in New Zealand.
My question is, does anyone know about the tests done when the power consumption is measured? I assume there is an EU standard test, where each fridge is tested at a specific inside and outside temperature. In Australia fridges are tested at 4 degrees internal temp and 32 degrees outside temp. If the EU standard is different then the results are not comparable. Can anyone post a link, preferably in English, which explains what efficiency tests are done to give the European standard efficiency ratings?
The Gram is rated A+.

Any other super-efficient 2 door fridge/freezers available that are no more than 60 cm wide? about 200 to 250 litres, Max 250 kwh/year?

thanks

chris.

Tada!

This should solve your problems.
Keep an ay on better appliances than that, there even are A++ class refrigerators thar consume even less electricity than that model.

Overhere in Europe I would advise to look at Liebherr fridges. They have some very energy efficient models like the CP4056 Premium. But that one is only available in some European countries. A yearly consumption of 215.4 kWh for a net capacity of 265 litres is very energy efficient. Unfortunately those models don't seem to be available in Australia. Besides that Liebherr cost an arm and a leg in Australia, look at those prices!
