Regulating incoming water on washer

I'd like feedback and thoughts please.

I currently have a Watts washing machine valve - the one with the single throw handle. This is the one that needs replacing. The seals are shot and I have to leave it open or it drips. I was planning on replacing it with an identical valve, but now Im considering putting individual shut off valves for the hot and cold water. This way I can partially close the cold water to temper the water rather than clicking the water temperature knob back and forth. I used to do this when I lived at home with my parents using their Kenmore TL'er during the colder months.

I have also read using a wye valve, but not sure how that would work?

a brass shut-off valve like this would allow you to control the water flow.......

and individual valve replacement would cost about the same....which is ever easier

Hmmm. If I replace the Watts with the same one (no soldering involved as I can just install the new one onto the brass eli adapters already soldered in place to 1/2" copper lines), can I then attach this valve below that valve only on the cold water side?

Thats what I was thinking!........

I have a WATTS on one of mine, its just 2 drops L's, and the fittings screw in for the WATTS, or you can screw in regular valves.....I also have shut offs further up the line if I wanted to adjust water temp...or service the pipes...

what ever you choose to be easier

Sounds like a plan!

Im going to take a ride to either HD or Lowe's to check out those irrigation valves. That makes my life much easier - then during the winter the only cycle I need to regulate would be the 'warm' cause selecting 'warm' in winter would probably be equivalent to my current ATC cold.
