Hey folks,

Once again, it's time for Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society. I hope nobody minds me bringing it up again this year, but where it's such a universal cause.....

Nearly 1 in 3 people will hear the words, "You have cancer." It's terrible, but it's a reality. Thanks to the American Cancer Society, survivorship has increased greatly. In fact, if you don't remember from last year's post, men with the same cancer Rich had increased their survival rate from about 5% to 95% in +/- 20 years!!!!

IF you're able to make any contribution, it will be very much appreciated. It can be done online with a credit card, or with a check/money order made out to the American Cancer Society. {mail to POB 286, Southboro MA 01772}

The link below will take you to Rich's donation page. This year, I'm also part of Relay officially, and my link will be in the next post. On Rich's or my page, you can click DONATE and either enter your online donation, or click a link to print an offline donation page that you can send to us with your check.

Again, we know not everyone will be able to donate. But if you can, no matter the amount, please do!!!! Your donation can also be made in honor or memory of someone!

If you have any questions, please be sure to ask!!!!

Chuck
p.s.- BTW, if you go to either of our pages and scroll to the bottom, you'll see a video I made for the high school's kids to use for getting donations in the schools!

Here's the link for my page.

There is no competition here. We're both happy to receive any donation, no matter who's page it's done under.

If you'd like your donation made in memory of someone, or maybe in celebration of a survivor, don't hesitate to enter that information in the online form, or include a note if you send either of us a check!

Thanks in advance,
Chuck

Call now! Operators are standing by!

Hey Everyone,

If I can be allowed to stand on my soapbox for a moment, I'd like to put out a general request to everyone here to make a donation, no matter how small, to this cause.

As some of you know, Chuck, Rich & I have been friends for several years, long before we joined this fine group. Nothing is more devastating than hearing one of your best friends has cancer! It is probably the most horrible news anyone can experience, not to mention, watching your friend go through the horrors of chemo, etc., etc.

If everyone in the group pledged even a dollar, we'd still raise a sizable contribution.

Let's do it, guys and gals, in honor of best friends, lovers, family members and anyone else in our lives that this terrible disease has affected.

Thanks for letting me rant on for a few minutes.

Ron

Thank you, Ron!

I can only imagine how difficult it was to helplessly watch me go through chemo and I just can't tell you how much your support means to Chuck and I. :-)

All I can say is that if it weren't for generous donations made to the American Cancer Society I would not be here to write this. I would be dead!

I know that economic times are tough and if you can't give then that's ok.

Be well!!!

Rich

Hey John,

I just found that out myself. The entire line is down apparently because I can't access any of the other Relay pages either.

I've called the people I deal w/ at ACS to alert them, but I'm sure they know. Please check it again later!!

Chuck
p.s.- Samantha, can you give a little nose twitch to straighten out their server???!!!

Thanks to those of you who have donated already! It's very much appreciated!

There is no time limit for donations, so please think about it and give if you can. Here's an idea...

You know that Mason jar of change you've been dreading rolling? Maybe roll enough of it to get $10 to donate (1 roll of quarters, or two rolls of dimes!). It's money you didn't have before so you're likely not going to think of it as gone!!!

I hope nobody minds me mentioning this one last time, but we've all been affected by cancer in one way or another. Between Rich and I we've lost grandparents, a parent, close aunts, uncles and cousins, and even pets to it. However, we also know a good number of survivors and want them to celebrate more birthdays!

I'm not planning on bumping this thread again. If someone else has something to add, please do. I don't want to be nudgy (nudgie? noodgy? noodgie?) about it!

Thanks again,
Chuck

p.s.- just as a point if info, my team did a fundraiser at a karaoke night last weekend (took donations and raffled off a gift certificate from the hosting restaurant), and we raised $455! If anyone has other ideas for raising $$, please let me know!
