removing rust from washing machine drum

Good Morning and Happy New Year to all members,
Can anyone recommend an effective way to remove rust from the bottom of a washing machine drum? I Thank You in advance for your suggestions!

A neighbor finally moved her WW front loader back in but it had set for a while and developed rust in the bottom of the tub. Scrubbing it with Iron Out removed it all and washer works fine with no more tub rust.

For the Iron Out product, would you recommend the powder or the spray? Thank You in advance for your reply

I have VERY hard well water and even with a water softner I still get some rust stains. Iron Out powder works best for me.

My mom always used Zud to clean the rust stains

from the washer, dishwasher, sinks, and toilets at our summer cottage until we got a proper water softener and it worked very well and was very gentle on all the things she cleaned with it. PATRICK COFFEY
