After verifying a bad sensor on the 8" SensiTemp burner, we'll have to go the conversion route and so will need a 5 button control unit to replace the present SensiTemp control unit... pics sent and below.
Really appreciate the help, it's the daily driver at camp and we love it!!

There is an alternative if John cannot come up with the needed Sensi-Temp parts.  I think you can keep the buttons which give you the size selection and the On/Off switch and replace the dial control with an infinite switch, if you so desire.

converting the SensiTemp to 5-button control...

so am assuming I won't need any SensiTemp parts, as will be bypassing the present SensiTemp button control and the temperature selecting dial control, so will just need to find the 5-button unit itself, as I already have some standard 8" Calrod burner coils.

I would love to see this

Please document progress if possible. I would like to do this with Estelle, but am afraid of messing something up. We would like to swap out the 8" sensi-temp burner with just a regular, and replace the slide switch with a 5 button piano key style (I already have both of these items). Will it need a different thermostat?

Jeannine...

You'll be eliminating the thermostat completely by substituting the 5 button unit which will do the temp controlling manually instead of by the automatic thermostat. We'll need guidance to verify what other parts (if any) and wiring changes will required before we can proceed... circuitry is not generally in my wheelhouse. But having the 5 button unit and a standard type 8" Calrod coil are required as a starting point at least.
