As a lot of you know I am having trouble with the pump on my English electric wringer washer, in fact I think I need to give up on it.
A few people have said to replace it with a small electric pump.
Can anyone tell me where I can get one from, I have searched eBay but I suppose I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for.
Thanks guys , any help would be much appreciated.

Pump

Hello Lance, a small pump from a modern washer or drain pump from a dishwasher would work, you can buy them new off eBay but if your local recycling centre / tip has a collection of old washers waiting to be crushed try asking the foreman if you can dismantle one and take out the pump I paid about £5 for one which they were delighted with. Some tips have stopped you buying the rubbish now tho. You need a one of a older hotpoint or Hoover ideally ones without a front filter as these tend to be a filter pump unit . They are normally a sealed unit and very reliable. A plastic mount would screw to the inside of the washer and then it's only 2 wires (pos earth one as well) the only trouble may be the pipe sizes. Modern pumps are designed for the horrid grey plastic tube as an outlet and a fatter one from the drum. I'm not sure how you want to drain the machine ie straight from the new pump via a new plastic tube through a hole in the cabinet or pump it back to the tub ( I'm assuming it did that ) you may need to replace more pipework. Car accessory shops sell heater hoses in different diameters in metre lengths etc for trucks busses etc I got some at halfords.. To connect a large diameter to a smaller one I've even used a small circular shampoo bottle cut in half , one pipe on the screw thread where the top went one one the bottom, lots of bostik and some jubilee clips. If you do get a pump from an old auto washer collect the black rubber pipe from the drum as well as at least it will fit the pump and you may be able to marry the original hose to it. If the original pump doesnt leak the water could flow through that first if sizes make it easier

Good luck you have some beautiful machines

Ha ha

Why would he leave you?? Lots of clean clothes , they are in the garage (with loads of room for more!!) and you keep a well stocked bar!!

Seeing all of the hoses hanong over the support bar reminds me of older washer vacs shops I used to get parts from as a kid. Sadly a lot gone now.

The one Al pointed out is ideal and a great price. They used to be about £15 new 20 years ago from a shop.

They are not all in the garage

There are 3 more in the kitchen , three more at the other side of the garage and three more in the shed.
But I NEED them all , as I keep telling him.

Lance Would an old Hoover 1100 pump fit?

If you want an electric pump I have an old Hoover 1100 one you are welcome to have? Let me know if you would like it and I will post it to you..!
