Replacing door seal

Hello all

A friend of mine has got a hotpoint ultima wma76 (with powerstream wash system). The door seal needs replacing, how do i do it?

He's ordered it, so it'll be changed soon.

BTW- Machine is in excellent condition except seal even after 2to3 washes a day after 6years or so, due to large family and with no breakdowns and bearings are perfect too.

How to change the door seal.

Hello. This machine should be an Ariston from its appearance. Changing the door seal is not difficult. Just open the door and locate the metal ring around the seal. The ring is usualli kept tight by a spring. With a suitable pair oof pliers remove the spring and then the metal ring (it's thin like a wire). Detach the seal from the front and reverse toward the drum. Remove the top of the machine. You will see the seal is attached to the outer drum. It has a similar metal ring that keeps it firmly in place. This ring is usually kept tight with a screw usually not so easy to unscrew. Is is easier if someone keeps the drum toward the back of the machine while you try to loose the ring. Its not necessary to remove completely the screw. When the ring is loose you just have to pull the seal from the front. When you reinstall the new ,start from the inside and make sure you perfectly fit the seal to the lip on the outer drum. The seal has usually a predetermined position. Take care to reassemply it in the right position (i.e. holes on the lower part) and to tight back firmly the metal ring. The seal should adhere perfectly to the outer drum lip. Pull it just to confirm it's well in place especially in the lower part where yoy can't easily see it. It must be smooth and without wrinkles. Once the seal is placed inside, re apply the upper lid and carefully merge the door seal to the front lip taking care to firmly place the ring and then the spring. I do hope I made myself clear...
It's not difficult but removing the inside screw can be nasty without a suitable hardware. pay attention how you disassemble it and then reassembly carefully.

Guess the "Ultima" were actually "the last" true Hotpoint machines, despite they already look very similar to the Ariston Margherita

I know well cause once I mixed them up and Rob "scolded" me

Yeah you're so right, my aquarius too, and i know many people in my family, friends and relatives who have wma hotpoints which are very happy with them. Only one has been scrapped due to bearings, it was a wma 32 due to overloading all the time.

But the ultima is a really good machine, great features, plus the 26mins fast wash at 35oc, the powerstream wash system, the fast forward option which newer machines dont have, and the wash times are fast too. Cottons 40oc takes like 1hour 20mins or so, with time saver 1hour 7mins.

i wish we bought the ultima instead of the aquarius, well they're not much different and yes my aquarius is still working, at aunts as she was let down by her wm64 after a long time so we had the aquarius as a spare so gave it to her.
