I am not so sure it is the Dems against the Repubs so much as the mindset of the nation against itself. There was a time in our not so distant past when owning slaves was admissable, and fought for. This mindset was fortunately changed, but there are still some that feel it should be their right.
Remember in a democratic society someone is placed in office through a vote. I know, I know the 2000 election was rigged and the Dems were robbed; we need to move on it's now in the past.
Also remember that in 2004 there was no such controversy and GWB still was reseated.
Rembering back in history only as far as I have lived, It was a democrat, Kennedy/Johnson that got us into Vietnam. It was this same democrat Johnson that kept us in that war for almost a decade. It was a Republican, Nixon that pulled us out and returned that country to their people. It was also a Democrat that got us into the Bay of Pigs and a cold war of sorts with Cuba that is yet to be resolved after 40+ years. Perhaps if Bill had been working on foreign affairs instead of office affairs something could have been done to change this???
I don't think we can place all the worlds woes on the U.S. or the current adminsitration. I am in no way trying to defend GWB, but as an American I was taught that we may not respect the person, but we respect the office and what it stand for. This is the leader of the free world like it or not we are residents of this country, but are free to leave it.
We have term limits so they don't set up permanent residence, but if the voters place them in that office, we should respect the voice of those voters. I fully agree with the right to protest, the freedom of speech and the right to assemble. I also support the right to bear arms, the right to life, and the prusit of happiness--not the right to happiness only the right to pursue it. There are many that never find it, there are others that are perpetually happy sometimes it depends on how much happiness you allow yourself and quit blaming your woes on everyone else.
I know not of what others on this board do, or what hatefilled messages they send one another. I do know that the tone is rather Un-American, and hatefilled coming our way I think we should have a right to defend our stance.
