About '73/'74.
I think these brochures show the new models that came right after the Rotoracks.
On page "4" here it shows "improved washing system" and they show the 2 arms.

Oh, Todd-Varicycle, You are a GOD. I think I am in heaven with all these 70s brochures.
All this Harvest gold, Avacodo, Coffee, Black glass, overly busy linoleum floor patterns, and faux wood-grain.
Oh, I think I am getting light headed. (no that is the way I am most of the time)
I've never done drugs or drank but.... I think I am getting high ~~ ~~~ ~~.
I bow to you sir.

You're welcome

Glad everyone is enjoying the brochures. I was born in 1970. I have always had an interest in dishwashers, even when I was small. My Mom and Dad always thought I was nuts because I always wanted to visit appliance stores to see the dishwashers and get the brochures. Appliance stores excited me more than toy stores...isn't that crazy? But from all of this, I have collected many brochures. I have a large binder. Would love to see others' brochure collections.

Wow, that is great Todd.

I, and I'm sure alot of the members here share your enthusiasm. The fact that you still have all of the brochures is so awesome too. I mean, I remember collecting brochures and stuff in the early 80's but none have survived unfortunately.
I have been acquiring more. I am in the process of getting my scanner working. And I can share what I have.

Was it ALL dishwashers that caught your eye or were there certain brands, colors, models, or other attributes that you were more specifically drawn to?

Great collection!

D&M Kenmores!

I absolutely loved them. I always hated dishwashers with towers. These were awsome designs and quiet for the time made.
I have a friend that had the next model down from the TOL and I loved to use it. They always said I loaded it the best of anyone. It had everything anyone could want short of a window. I would love to see more brochures of this type.

Washertalk:

My aunt had a KitchenAid Superba 16 (actually a dishwasher-sink model 36) and I used to visit her when I was in kindergarten. I was fascinated with the lights and the sounds it made. I actually inherited this very house and live in it now using this same exact KitchenAid dishwasher-sink model that has been in the kitchen since 1968.

I think that is how my interest got started. I have always been very partial to the KitchenAid dishwashers made by Hobart. The new ones are junk in my opinion. I loved all that chrome on the older machines and the designs were so cool looking.

A friend of mine was having dinner at my house one time and after dinner we were loading the dishwasher - (he knew of my interest) and he said, "For you, KitchenAid dishwashers are like a status-symbol." When I was growing up, that was certainly true for me.

When I was growing up, I loved going into peoples' homes to see what brand of dishwasher they had....and if they had a KitchenAid , I thought they were really "cool!" LOL

I have always like the trim kit where you can match your cabinets. I like the custom look. But, I also like stainless steel.

My one regret was not going to Troy, Ohio to visit Hobart and taking a tour of the plant before they sold out to Whirlpool. I would have loved seeing the factory. When I was 11, I visited the Amana Corp in Amana, Iowa...and when I was 20, I took a tour through Maytag in Newton, Iowa. That was fun.

If I had to choose brands in order of preference (from the retro machines):

1. KitchenAid (any Hobart-made)
2. Maytag (WU 600) styling
3. General Electric (60's style models)

We had 2 Kenmores growing up; unfortunately they only lasted about 7 years each. The tubs rusted out at the bottom by the spray arm/ heater. Did anyone else have the same experiences with these machines? In '88 I finally convinced my father to just by a K/A and be done with it.
