It came into my life with such high hopes. Sadly it's computer was cross wired with medical billing and it believed it's highest and best good was to generate constant monthly bills. Between my own medical expenses and this very spoiled automobile, one of us had to go. The final straw was nursing through vacation and finding out the transfer case for the 4 wheel drive was shot, spewing oil and making grinding noises. A mere $4,000 for such a double crossing, two timing piece of General Motors American dream. It was time to cut my losses.

If I could squeeze this vehicle I'd get lemonade!

Well it LOOKS nice at least!

When vehicles are all-electric it will greatly simplfy the mechanicals. But that is a LONG way off and will create other problems.

Rumour has it we will one day use sound to propel our vehicles. I don't suppose that will be in MY lietime........

What I do know is that when a spouse is bitichng it propels one to get into their car and peel-out! LOL

Nice Experience

In the last 48 hours an experience with satisfaction and fulfillment unfolded in the most unlikely place, a Ford dealership

Doa and Trying to Tread Water

Trying to trade off a dead vehicle is worse than asking for a loan with a foreclosure on your record. Not so in the case

Get Rich Quick

I thought an SUV would become the cash cow by picking Craigslist freebees and reselling them. The market impact had greatly diminished free goods on Craigs. This trunk can hold a washer and still let the deck close.

Cash Back

In the end, I left happy, they filled the tank and I have a check to put in the bank. VISA is now out of my life and a small cushion remains in savings as a reminder of the worst car experience I had redeemed by the best.

Subaru

If I had wanted a Subaru, its what I would have shopped for. I am big and I like big and more than that I have a catastrophing hearing loss. Vibration nearly drives me crazy in a car. I need something with tons and tons of insulation.

That a nice looking Town Car. I hate to say this because I love Cadillacs, but you won't have half the trouble out of the Lincoln. It's a time proven platform with very high reliability. Their only downside is they are best left parked when the white stuff falls.

White Stuff

I know what you meant and I so wanted to describe driving with "white stuff." They can be goosey on slick roads. I drove Lincolns for almost 40 years. The old land yachts from the 70's drove though snow like a German tank. My first light one (Major style redesign in 1980 to much smaller and lighterand then back to bigger in 1998) was an 84. I nearly wreaked it the first time on snow. When I was working I had a 5 state territory and drove a cazillion miles. On top of that we lived in Ellensburg and the office was in Seattle. A one way drive to work was 118 miles and it was through Snoqualamie Pass. Chains, avalanche and multiple car pile ups, closed for heavy now fall etc were the daily norm. I am brazen, brave and foolish. One steering wheel and two testicles while making it all appear easy best decribes may approach to driving.

Kelly,

First off I want to send my Congrats on unloading your Cadillac, I just sold mine too, transferring the title at 10 AM. I am sure you are as excited as I am to have the Cadillac out of your life.
I also love your new Town Car. I have a 2006 Town Car that replaced a Crown Vic. I have found that a pair of good snow tires and 2 50 lb sandbags in the trunk combined with the electronic traction control, it handles the hilly roads here well when covered with snow, no worse than most light weight FWD cars.

Happy Driving.

Two of us?

Sam, we should synchronize our clocks and do the Meposian Dance of Joy. If you pencil out cost of the Cadillac and all repairs, I dropped about $21,000 in which I recouped $10,000. It really didn't matter since it was deal on paper. I have want, I am used to, something dependable and even sweeter with it's over the top with pimped out features. The Gold Lincoln hood ornament is in the dash and silver on the grill. In this stage of my life, those things of extraordinary quality will stay and be maintained for the remainder of my breath filled days. This car will likely be one.

I know what you mean about those 70's Lincoln Town Cars. Very large vehicles. You used to see so many of those and the Town Coupe that I sometimes thought that they were the "Offical Car of Texas" (:>!

Ooooh nice new cream puff ride there. Nothing like floating down the highway in a land yacht on a nice long trip!

Kelly,

I too lost a bunch on my Caddy,
In the one year I owned it I spent about $14000 and only got $5000 back. If I would have known then I would have bought a second Lincoln.
BTW what year is your Town Car, a 1996 or 97? and it looks like it probably has low miles too.

Kelly's Car

The car is 1996 with 92,000 miles. It was owned by a local collector in his 80's who offered it up as a trade in on a Harley his daughter wanted. It has been treated well and reminds me again of the joy of being totally sequestered from the road while driving.
