Rescued: 1960's(?) Whirlpool Washer looking for a forever home...

This caught my eye in the haulaway's today. I decided to grant a reprieve and brought her inside. LVA6600W1.

The chrome is showroom clean and shiney. Controls are fully functional right down to the Mercury lid switch assy.

Has the super wash cycle.

She could use a replacement bleach cup. She also has the brush lint filter. The tub cover is metal.

Has the older SuperSurgilator agitator without the extra wings. The tub is in good shape.

The cabinet is in good shape with no dings or dents. There are scuffs in the paint on the sides but nothing major. I do think it will need bearings. She does spin like a champ but rumbles while doing so. No rust to speak of anywhere<br
This machine really doesn't fit in my collection so I really would love for this little one to find a loving home. With some tlc, I think she'll be a strong runner for years to come. If anyone can provide such a home, please drop me an email. Please help me avoid this one going to appliance oblivion<br

Boy does that bring back memories. I love the timer dial on this one better than the ones from the 80's that were painted on. Our first Whirlpool had the same type of filter but no bleach dispenser it was either a 72 or 73 model an 18 pound machine. One of the best washers I've ever used.

This is one of those which shifts from normal to gentle agitation on the PP cycle at the 6 minute increment and the rinse is also gentle.

Washer Matches Our Whirlpool Dryer

It was Mama's first dryer, though we had the previous washer to this unit.<br
Ours had the same "waterfall filter" though it was clear glass and chrome not plastic<br
Nice unit though!

Love the peak behind the curtain, i.e.,

the open waterfall filter and the way you display your finds as if they were brand new in a showroom. I bet the machines love the respect you show them<br
I can't tell if the tub is the big one, and I think your new find has the double cooldown on the PP cycle--a nice luxurious "gas guzzler.<br

I believe this is the series (although the subject washer might be a little older) that unseated the center dial Maytag from Consumer Reports' top spot around 1975 or so<br
Good to see it doesn't have the awful "bed of nails" lint filter<br
Beautiful machine. I hope it finds a good home. I'll never understand why people get rid of perfectly good things like this. They'll never be able to replace it with anything new of equal build quality.

Watch what you say about those "bed of nails" filters! *LOL<br
After growing up with that darn (and IMHO filty)brush filter thing, the bed of nails is a walk in the park<br
Trick is to clean the thing when it is wet. A simple gentle but firm slap against something will disloge the gunk, and one is good to go<br
