I was on a bit of a roll this weekend, so I decide to take a second look at that poor Westy dryer of mine. I was more than a bit miffed that the dryer wouldn't run after I reassembled it following a fresh coat of appliance epoxy. I had been contemplating what I had done wrong with the lint trap trip rod and with the advice and information I got here, I knew I had a bad electrical connection somewhere. So, the first thing I did was to re-do the connectors on the wires leading to the door switch. I also took a good look at all the wiring and I found a huge potential problem. When I had dropped the door panel the last time around, I had pulled the neutral lead to the starting relay out compleltely. I never would have seen this if I hadn't taken the front panel off again.
BUT here's the weird part... I hooked up a temporary connection to just the 110-volt side of the terminals, pulled the 'start' switch and...nothing!!
I was more than a bit annoyed... So, I figured I had nothing to loose; I hooked the dryer up to a 'kids - don't do this at home' extension to the main dryer line. With hubby standing by at the breaker panel, I pulled the starter and...
It worked!! I ran a 10-minute cycle and I was delighted to find that the dryer cycled through to the end all by itself. 'How Dry I Am' never sounded so good!!
