Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Some people are just losers! Can't they worry about saving animals instead of sticking their nose were it doesn't belong!
Hopefully the ban is fake. How stupid. I bet their yard looks like shit too, since their so busy doing crap like that.

Once Again, I Say:

If these people really want to save the American family, they'd be out there screaming their heads off in support of affordable 30-year fixed-rate mortgages for all, more and better-enforced usury laws, and labour laws encouraging job retention and stability. If the American family is under siege - and it jolly well is - the tendency of our corporations and financial institutions to view Americans as lowly creatures to be paid as little as possible, laid off whenever possible and charged as much as possible is to blame, not the love lives of this nation's gay citizens.

We have people in this country who are losing their homes in spite of having two full-time paychecks. We have shocking unemployment rates in many states. We have people with impeccable credit histories who cannot get loans or whose interest rates get jacked up to the skies just because some idiot in a three-piece suit figures he can do that. American families are coming apart under these stressors, and if these boycotters would like to accomplish something of value rather than use their precious right of free speech in an attempt to crush the rights of others, they might consider a concerted effort to help bring the greed of Corporate America under some reasonable control.

Sorry, but this stuff is really getting on my lastest nerve; the Titanic is sinking fast, and these folks are wasting precious time debating about who are the "right sort of people."

Well If I had only known

American Family (their insurance sucks too)
Does that mean I have to boycott Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Blockbuster Video, Wendy's, and B. Dalton books too?

I'm wondering, when is there going to be a "MO" sit in at the local drug store with everyone ordering Pepsi? Who knows, 50 years from now they could be doing a documentary on the movement.

This is exactly

the problem with supporting the christianists and letting them preach their hatred.

I don't much like Pepsi, but from now on, their on my grocery shopping list.

We either fight the mo'fcking bastards or they'll have us back in the gas chambers. The Republicans lost the election, it is time for the pigs to crawl back into their filthy mud holes and reserve their pestilence for themselves and their ilk.

I told Tiberius time and time again not to leave the lions out overnight, they'd catch their death of cold, but would he listen...

Keven, the Wildmons have the weight of societal evolution going against them. This weight is inexorable, unstoppable and irreversible, so the harder their group bangs its head against this wall, the faster they'll knock themselves out for good. E.g. the AFA's legal division ("Center for Law and Policy") stopped operations in 2007.

They lobby for maniacal things, like recriminalization of homosexuality, that are becoming increasingly ridiculous, pointless and politically untenable every year. And look at President Obama's actions since he took office.. Clearly he recognizes America's far-right fringe is exactly that: a fringe, not worthy of bother.

The AFA is ground zero for fake christianity in America. By their hatred they are known, therefore this problem is self-correcting.

Family Guy clip

You think it does damage? Then the same could be said for Will and Grace, on and on. I see it the opposite, breaking down the stereotypes and making them humorous instead of hurtful does far more to bring about a level of acceptance or at least "who cares" attitude in people.

If we don't stop hating who we are, how can we expect anyone else to do the same?

Jeff,

I hope you are right. Frankly, the more we learn about the last eight years, the worse it looks.

I note that jerk of a Republican governor in Vermont intends to veto granting us human status.

LOL Keven

Where is a nice hungry pride of lions when we need one? :-)

I think a lot of the noise these groups make about gays is just to get publicity so dumb people send them money. I remember Jerry Falwell saying in an NPR interview 'Thank God for these gay demonstrators. If I didn't have them, I'd have to invent them. They give me all the publicity I need.'

They are ALL a bunch of Hucksters blowing a lot of hot air!

Homophobic bastards! I hate em! I don't even drink soda, but I think I will put some Pepsi on the grocery list for company....

Family Guy episode. Harmful?????

There was a poll on Gay.com (thanks, Ron, for letting me know about this, and, oh yeah, it figures you'd know about that site!!!). The question was: "What do you think? Did The Family Guy push the envelope a little too far in this episode?"

Nearly 76% of responders checked the box marked, "No - I thought it was hilarious!" Only 5.4% checked, "Yes - I usually love the show, but this one crossed the line." The other choice was, "Maybe - I thought it was funny, but did they have to include every gay stereotype?"

Loosen up a little. FG makes fun of everything and everyone. I think it's great that Stewie might just as well be gay from the things he says and does.

And, what about "Death?" (Character played by Norm MacDonald) When he's having dinner w/ the family, he puts a chicken leg in his mouth then pulls out only a bone. When Meg asks him how he did it, his reply is something like, 'well, let's just say I did a few films in college that I'm not particularly proud of...'

FG reminds people that there are people of the gay persuasion that exist in the world, and they're not molesting children or trying to make converts to get toaster ovens. Nothing wrong with that.

Sorry, PeterH. Just my opinion.

Chuck

Ah,

Rich,
Would those toaster ovens be vintage, wood-grained GE with the slider controls below the window like Toggles has?

Cause, if that's what we get for signing up, I didn't get one!

I thought the Family Guy clip was just plain stupid.

Will Truman went a long way in destroying gay stereotypes, and Jack McFarland didn't become a ridiculous cartoon character until the fifth season -- when NBC discovered their largest viewer demographic was teenage girls who tuned in every week just to see what Grace was wearing. At that point the show's executive producers brought in Jhoni Marchinko (as permanent line producer), and after that it was all about Grace and Karen (their boyfriends, marriages etc).

Steve, you are such a pot stirrer! Thats why I love you so much! <:

No prob, I'm just in the 5.4%

For me, the difference is that Will & Grace was very close, if not spot on to real life. Yeah, Jack was a bit much, but it was all very real (if anything, Karen was the way over the top character). That show really did breakdown stereotype. All for it, 100%.

Family Guy always overpushes the envelope. When I find it on in my stores, I have to change the channel. I'm not surprised that they did that clip, but that so many gay men think that is OK. Jeez, no wonder we can't get ahead. It's crap like that that keep people like the AFA in business. Yeah, it's a joke, but it fuels the fire because it is so outrageous and over-the-top.

'Will & Grace' was gay packaged and sanitized for straights. I found it repressed and silly. Now, the American 'Queer as Folk' was much closer to reality than that other tripe and far more helpful in breaking down stereotypes. If you think Family Guy pushes the envelope (and I thought the gay snippet was great), try 'Drawn Together.' Now there is a show that is just so wrong it's right.

Just my penny's worth

> Now, the American 'Queer as Folk' was much closer to reality <

Reality depends on one's own personal experience. Just as one example, I've had two main phases in my life: the first half growing up in a big city, and eventually winding up in a small bedroom community. The two realities, at least with regard to the gay community, could not be any more different from one another. Guys around these parts are far more Will Truman than Brian Kinney, while the exact opposite was true in L.A. Nearly all of our gay friends are either in long-term (and in most cases monogamous) relationships, or are looking to find one of these relationships.

A lot has to do with age: I mean regardless of sexual orientation, I think most people eventually mature to the point where they're ready to settle down.
