Rinse and Hold

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I use rince hold every other day normally. 11 minutes of rinsing gets most of the stuff off the dishes and leaving the door ajar helps stop odour

At least daily

We wash at least one dishwasher load daily, sometimes 2-3, but even so, I always use Rinse/hold after putting a half a dishwasher in.

No delay start, either!

When we got these on the floor I was so unimpressed with them I didn't even pay attention to "no rinse and hold". I guess bajaespuma has the best idea; I never thought to try that.

On the 1973 Lady Kenmore I have, the rinse and hold rinses twice. Kind of a pain to use since its a portable. I can't really see someone hooking it up just to rinse off dishes, but who knows? Maybe there was more time in the 70's. Thirty six years later, the amount of water used in the rinse and hold is now the short wash cycle of the Kenmore I have now.

I think I've used this cycle less than 10 times in almost 30 yers. If used, causes horrible smell--not so noticeable when not us9ing the cycle. and things sit for up to a week at times before the machine is run.

I have a Kenmore Elite Ultrawash. My machine is approximately 10 years old. It is not a tall tub. The R&H cycle is a 10 minute cycle. 2 min. fill, 6 min spray, and 2 min drain. It has a sensor and on a couple occasions it did add time by draining and doing 2 rinses. (I think that might have been some mashed potatoes left in a serving dish!)

I use the rinse & hold between washes. I either sprinkle a little detergent in the open cup or add about a cap full of chlorine bleach. That sanitizes the machine and prevents mold. You only need a small amount of bleach. I haven't had any bad after effects to usibg bleach once or twice a week.

I also prop the door open, afterwards to let it air dry.

oh Yogi. A personal invite. I'm honored!

Hi Steve. *WAVES*

I thought of detergent or bleach in a R&H, but my mind makes me want to rinse it out to avoid potentially damaging the machine or dishes....

I hardly ever use RnH, it's kind of a pain with a portable. I think I might have used it once or twice in the past 5 years. I have on occasion used the light wash.

I think I used the R and H for the first time last month, we were had to go out of town at the last minute, and would not be back for 3 days, and I didn't see a point of running a cycle on a couple of items.

Otherwise, it will be 3 days or so before I have a full load of dishes, and I don't rise at all, and all comes out just fine.
