Thank-you for the many hours of laughter and witty performances.

Bea was an original understudy for Tallulah Bankhead on Broadway. I read somewhere that she gave her much credit for her start as an actress.
Also the longest recorded laugh response on tv was on an episode of Maude.

'Do you want the pot again, Rose?' (paraphrased)

She'll be missed! I do like the Family Guy episode where they have the ridiculously long intro for "Maude" that goes on and on, ad finitum.

OMG! NOOOOOOOOOO!

"Vera Just Loves Little Boys"
"God Will Get You For That Walter"

From television, to stage, to screen have loved Miss. Arthur's work. A true class act and a first class "BIOCH" (in most ladylike way of course *LOL*)

Rest in peace, Miss. Arthur, you have truly earned it.

i didnt even know she had died, how sad, i loved her in golden girls she brought so many hours of laughter in my life and it was not the same when she left and it was renamed golden palace.. R.I.P bea xxx

Oh my, how very sad. A friend of mine's gonna be trippin cuz his roomie (not partner) will be bummed because another Golden Girls related member has died. Also, I gotta email a friend here--Bea was his baby sitter when he was little and lived up north. (I think he still remembers her too from those days). And strangely, his partner met the real "Peggy Sue" while he was in medical school in Lubbock.

Its "Beatrice" Arthur...

She was fabulous. I have a hard time deciding between Dorothy and Blanche as my favorite. Arthur was sharp as a needle. Here she is in Maude...

She will be missed, "Maude" tackled a lot of tabu subjects in the 70's. I remember the show in a 10:30 pm time slot. Ms.Arthur Thank you!

She was.....at least the character was..... fabulously NYC sarcastic, caustic and sardonic.

I remember a skit where she was hanging out with a gentleman caller....things got all.... er... uh....hairy in that she grabbed and pulled-on what she beleved to be the hand-brake while in his vehicle. OMG it was hilarious.

Of course the slutty character...from Atlanta,..(what the h*** was her name).... was all proud and happy for her.

Just Between Friends.

I was fortunate enough to see her one-woman show "Just Between Friends" when it came to Chicago. It was just her, an upholstered wing chair and her fun stories.
She knew her audience and did show up at Chicago's Boystown bars unexpectedly and supposedly had been lifted onto the bar to honor her. I missed that one though...

I enjoy watching Golden Girls as much as I can, even if they are repeats. It is one of the few shows on TV these days that can make me laugh. First Estelle Getty, and now Bea Arthur have passed. I am sad that they are gone.

Archie to Maude -

"What the hell is this, Maude?"

Maude to Archie -

"It's Cream of Wheat with cheese. It soothes AND it binds."

And of course the classic line from MAME - "If I kept my hair natural like yours Mame I'd be bald!"

WE LOVED YOU BEA!!!

I remember Maude a little, and loved her in Mame. But I just love Golden Girls, I don't care how many times I have seen a episode, I still laugh as though it was the first time I have ever seen the episode.

That show could make me laugh so hard I would cry. I will never forget her.

Well, it seems we all share a common admiration for dear Bea Arthur! I too remember episodes of "Golden Girls" that had me in tears I was laughing so hard! It's also a very fond memory of time spent with my grandmother and mother watching it together.

Thanks for the laughs, and the memories, Bea!

farts

If I remeber correctly, the "girls' were being robbed by a burgler and either Bea or her mother had something that didn't agree with her and was gassious during the taping and played it right in with the script! I laughed so hard that I too farted and everybody laughed even harder! We'll all miss you Bea and I'm sure that God was waiting for you with a smile too!
