RIP my LG Turbodrum

Born 12.2.2005,(well arrived home and started your working life.), died last night, 1.12.2016, lived almost 11 years, probably not too bad a life span these days.
So we are off shopping tomorrow and Sunday for a replacement.
I have a few models in mind,
1. If we stay with top loader, fisher and paykel washsmart, 8kg.
If front loader is the choice,
2. LG 7kg model recommend by Choice.
3.Euromaid 7 or 8 kg.
4. Beko 7 kg.
5. Fisher Paykel 7.5 kg.
Not interested in cheap brands or even Simpson as they seem flimsy.
Any tips, hints advice from you guys welcome as always.

Sorry guys forgot to add , premium brands Miele, AEG, Speed Queen are out of price range, and after our bad experience with Bosch all those years ago, they are off the list.

I have the Fisher and Paykel 7.5kg front load and it's brilliant. It does take its time to balance for spin but so do all front loaders these days seemingly. It uses a LOT of water to rinse in, halfway up the door! Wash times are perfectly acceptable and if you get the 1400 spin model then you can use the Soil Level option to modify the wash time. Attached is a pic of the rinse water level on all cycles.

Sorry about this. I would stay and buy their new 30"wide 5 cu ft model with Side Kick . Those models rock. Thirty pound capacity.

I moved and the house is 86 years old. Rainbow Falls is a block away and my bedroom faces the ocean. The landlord and his wife live right next door because this is the house he grew up in. His dad built it. Nice front porch and I teplqced the POS Imperial eighteen inch stove with a new Amana twenty four inch. This stove rocks. Its all porcelain on steel and my Spatter Free Broiler grill fits perfectly inside its oven. A window on the door and nice interior add to it's beauty.

The new baby is home

Well I am the new owner of a Fisher and Paykel 7.5kg front loader, bought it today and seeing as we have gone with front loader, to buy the matching dryer as well.

Its a WH7560J2-Quicksmart, looking forward to it being delivered and installed on Monday.

The sales lady at Bing Lee couldn't have been more helpful, she even plugged it and others in so I could play around with the controls.

I was also keen on the 8kg Beko which has a fast express wash which will do an 8kg load in just 28 minutes, but I went with the F&P as it is a more familiar brand.

Of the 9 cycles I think we will only use around 3-4, Quickwash, Everyday, Delicates.

Got it for a pretty good price $1,200 for both.

This gave me a thought - I noticed you're in Australia. I'm wondering if LG manufactures their LG washers differently. Say if someone in the USA buys an LG vs someone buying an LG in another country - they are both LG brand, but they are probably made differently. I know voltage is different - but I wonder if the major components are the same?

About your new washer - I hear F&P is a good brand, though I have never used one yet.

1st report on new front loader

Well I have done 3 loads in the F&P front loader, and have to say wow!, absolutely whisper quiet during operation, dead set simple controls and while I have only used "Everyday" cycle and 'Quick 30", I am looking forward to experimenting with the other cycles.

Mattywashboy, you are right about the rinsing feature, it sure does use a reasonable amount of water for rinsing, which I like,and even on the maximum spin speed of 1100 rpm's, you can barely hear it going.

All in up so far very happy with my purchase and am kind of glad to change to front load this time as wash results have been excellent.

The book reccommends using a high quality detergent, which is fine at the moment we have normal Omo and I might just stick to that or maybe try Bio-Zet attack.

Matty, a question if I might, do you find powder or liquid detergent to work best in your machine?, thanking you in advance.

Havent had any need to try the dryer yet, as hot summer days are with us at the moment, but if the dryer is half as good as the washer I will be happy with it too.

Hi Steve! Great to hear you are liking your new machine thus far

I use both liquid and powder detergents in my machine and find they both work quite well. Liquid does tend to encourage more suds locking although it's all a matter of dosage. I use the Cold Power Sensitive liquid for my partners clothes and that works very well
