I'm old enough to have been a fan of The Prisoner. His portrayal of "Longshanks" in Braveheart was IMHO the best thing in that movie. He was the unreadable judge in "A Time to Kill". A class act, I will miss him. Good actor.

Didn't he turn down the chance to play James Bond because he was already doing a TV series called "Secret Agent" in the UK?? Just seems to ring a bell somewhere.
He will definitely be missed.

He was truly evil in "Braveheart".

I also remember "The Prisoner". I remember watching it in B&W in the late sixties, and being rather mystified by all the goings on. But the antiseptic little village where he was imprisoned was imprinted on my mind, and I developed a real distrust for similar sorts of squeaky clean, well regulated, conservative, boring communities. Unfortunately my first college campus seemed to be a Village wannabee ;-).

A few years ago I splurged and got the entire series on DVD. But I find it difficult to get used to the full color - it helps to adjust the set to display just black and white, the way I remember it. There is a nightmarish quality to the series that just seems to fit B&W better.
