This DOES bring back memories, Before our neighbor Bertha had the avocado green Frigidaire I now have, she had one of these, I have the book for hers, in it she wrote, Purchased and installed Aug 9 1952, Shaw Furniture Co, 219.75...I had a flood of memories just looking at it, I remember being 5 or 6 or so and being at her house at supper time.."Thats Southern for dinner"..and getting a hot biscuit with homemade blackberry jelly on it, I remember seeing the coils glowing under the evenizer, and wondering why her stove was so different from ours, Mother had a 50 model of this same range, this one is identical to the one Bertha had, the only thing that does not work is the minute timer, the clock is exactly right and is silent.

I need

A correct handle for the storage drawer, it was missing, but that is all I could find wrong, the oven was 25 degrees too hot, which I adjusted, so I think it will work fine.

Do these have an oven light? My RT-35C doesn't have one. What's different in the oven?  I never noticed that the clock face also changed from white to black on this model.

The drawer handles seem to be one of the weak spots of these ranges. Many are missing and I had to add washers to the screws that hold mine.

My range was in relatively poor shape but I got it for free after someone emailed me to offer it! I spent a few minutes fixing it (one burner didn't work and the clock needed a new Telechron rotor) but it took a bit longer to clean and detail and it would still need some more... The oven was OK but the burner trim rings around the burners were pretty dirty, the knobs were yellow and didn't have and paint remaining on their markings so they were very hard to read. The porcelain has some scratches and there are a few chips on the drawer.

No Oven light...

A odd thing is the vent is under the left FRONT unit, the only range I ever saw that does this, M y Mother always wished she had kept her 1950 model..I remember Her saying that when they were first married, they didn't have a electric percolator, She learned that a aluminum stove top percolator would make perfect coffee on the Radiantube unit by turning it to high, when it started perking turn it off and when it stopped the coffee would be perfect, the retained heat was just enough.

I like how the trim around the oven thermostat seems to be mirror-like on your range. Is it still anodized aluminum like on the RT-35 or chrome-plated? Mine doesn't shine like that, the finish doesn't seem to be damaged but it's not mirror-like!

I also need to remove the clock (or the glass) to clean the clock face. When I replaced the rotor, I couldn't figure how to do it (I didn't try hard, I was more anxious to see the clock work than to see it clean but now, it bothers me!)

Wait a minute!!!!

When did you get this??  I remember you were looking at one, but I don’t remember that you got it.

That unit is just FANTASTIC!!!   I want one, too!!!

On a different note, I’m ready to start some global crowdfunding for that new camera.  What should we set as the goal?<!-- [if gte mso 9]><xml>

Nobody has an old phone with a decent camera?!

Seriously, I like the filter effect of yours! I tried to get a similar blurry effect with my phone's camera by wiping the lens with my greasy fingers, it worked!

Here's the result at Paul's christmas party!

First picture with a clean lens and then the softened pictures (and no flash!).

Re,,Reply no 4...,Different oven

I read my earlier post and need to clairify..the stove we had when I was a kid was NOT Mothers Frigidaire, it was my Grandmothers 54 Hotpoint, and it had a Calrod bake unit. that was what I was referring too as being different, in my mind at 5 years old I knew Berthas stove was different than ours, but didn't understand until later how different, Mother and Dad sold their Frigidaire appliances in 58 after they decided to live with  my Grandmother, they first moved in with my Grandparents to save  money while building a house, my Granddad died in 57 and the house was never built, that's how I got to grow up in the house my Mother was born in.My Grandfather asked Mom to stay and look after her Mother, which She and Dad did, Grandmother had a much larger 1950 Westinghouse fridge and a 54 Hotpoint range"Which Mother despised!, she always wished she had kept her Frigidaire.

Im talking about...

Me as a 5 year old , I can remember thinking, "Why does Berthas stove have elements in the oven that are coiled and under a baffle, Our Hotpoint had a Calrod that looked totally different,Mother liked her Frigidaire better because she always said the units didn't rattle when you walked across the floor like the Calrods did on the Hotpoint...That and my clean freak Grandmother was always washing the pushbuttons...thus moisture ran down them and caused them to stick, I remember not long before it went bye bye seeing my Grandmother in frustration beat the off button down with the handle of a knife...which to a 5 year old was VERY funny...hell, I would laugh at that today!!!The sad thing was, when my Mother bought a new stove, She thought the Frigidaires were too expensive so she bought a Kelvinator , which was a WCI piece of JUNK, I remember being a teenager asking her why she didn't buy a Frigidaire!! She said she surely wished she had!!LOL

Hi Kevin...

This really is in GREAT shape and seems to bake wonderfully, All the top units heat perfectly too, it looks like it was used for canning , the drip pan under the  large unit was the only one that didn't look new, and the clock works too, the minute timer doesent, but im going to clean it and I think it will be ok.
