I am a Native NY'er, born in Manhattan in 1965, moved to Newark then ultimately to Hillside before my parents moved the family south to Fort Lauderdale, so been there done that. But those curbside treasures you've been scoring and the fact more vintage era laundry equipment seems to turn up there has me green with envy.
Also, now that hurricane Sandy has left her destructive wake, probably more will float to the curb as insurance companies payout claims and replace lost property. So get ready for more finds.
In Florida, most of the neighborhoods were still swamp land while those early Hamiltons, Apex's and Bendix's were rolling off the Assembly line.
PS: Being of Cuban decent, I believe I am genetically predisposed to hotter climates anyway.
