Roma Mexican Clothes Washing Detergent

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I have Roma and these others, plus another one I can't think of the name.

I have used most of them a couple times, but it's been a while. My current machine line up are all front loaders and I can't use any of these powders, because they all make a lot of suds, even in a TL washer.

The Mexican Ariel has a very strong scent (that I like), but most of it is rinsed out by time it goes in the dryer.

No,

and why is it allowed across the border? Dope smugglers could use it to camoflage cocaine and heroin by emptying out the detergent and putting drugs in the packages, then use a vacuum sealer.
I've never seen it on any store shelves here, and we even have a rather large Mexican American community. So they don't even want it.
Roma from Mexico, doesn't that beat all get up?
Trying to be Italian or Polish? Yes, we used to have Roman bleach here, and it was a Polish family who made it.
Know what, we don't need a wall. We need all knew trade laws, but I know that will never happen. At least not so long as Most Americans have plenty to eat, a nice roof over their heads, and decent healthcare.
Uh Hu, that third item?? It will happen. Not in my lifetime, but it will, and the USA will become more for average folks again.
So let them all eat cake, and then they chopped off their heads.

Oh, yes, I though of the drug sniffing dogs.

Whilst some detergent packs will be on the surface, the scented laundry product will over power the dope.

I noticed on the Ace packaging it says something about "espuma" but I can't make out the first word.   It looks like "inteli" as if it knows which kind of machine it's in.  I don't see how that could be possible, but could Ace be appropriate for HE machines?

I prefer powders and the only reason I haven't tried any Mexican detergents is because none of them are HE compatible, but it's getting to the point where there are no powders left in the detergent aisle except those from Mexico.

Roma was better when it was still fully phosphate.  I used it in my TL machine.  Creates a lot of suds so had to watch dosing in TL.  Can not use it in the FL as I would be doing a Lawrence Welk entro from all the bubbles.

Vac-dude, smh.

I've tried Roma and Foca and Ace.  Roma is high-sudsing as stated above, didn't seem much a notable detergent.  Like the scent of Ace Limon but haven't had it in a long while.  Have some Foca on-hand, which can suds-up a lot depending on the dosage vs. load size & soil but always rinses nicely.

I had a moment of unspeakable weakness, and bought some Roma at Walmart last year. (It was to be an innocent trip--just to LOOK at Persil, back when it was only carried by Walmart, but could not resist the small $1 bag of Roma. The shame of buying something at Walmart still burns in my soul with the fire of a million suns.)

I can't remember it being horribly sudsy, but it might have been. Then, again, it seems like many detergents are horribly sudsy, like various P&G offerings. But it seemed to rinse OK, I didn't notice any problems with residue, and found the scent acceptable. Cleaning power was adequate--but, as I've said before, my typical load is about freshening, and not about cleaning a horrific mess.

Roma has no enzymes...Foca has a single one, and if you can find the phosphated formula is pretty good in a TL and cheap. Don't trust the non-phosphate technology of cheap powdered detergents after cleaning out my grandmother's Maytag after a diet of cheap 25 lb pail detergent in hard water...

As stated before, here in Texas there is a lot of Mexican products sold at the grocery stores, Arlans and HEB, and Wal-Mart. I tried the powdered Ariel and honestly I was not that impressed. I didn't like the texture at all, it seemed to turn into a clay when wet, the scent was okay but not impressive. To me it seemed to clean just marginal at best, and it did fade some dark colors. I haven't tried the Roma or others, but I probably won't do so based on what I saw with Ariel. I agree with Jamiel, I don't think very hard water and some of those detergents are a good combination. Just my two cents.
