Secrets From The East

wow you kept that quiet Mike ;-), what a nice machine especially with AEG spinner fitted, that will whip through a full load in no time!.

Hmm fan on the motor? these motors are under no load as such and run at a reasonable temperature, maybe it doubles up as a power unit to drive some sort of farm equipment hence the cooling fan on the motor :-)

motor fan

the motor is"shaded pole"type-needs the oversized fan plus the fan-spoked pump drive wheel to disperse the waste heat of the inherently inefficient motor design-the shaded pole motors GE used in their dishwashers for a couple decades also had an oversized fan.

the Australian Hoovermatics had a pretty substantial fan on the wash motor.
I'm more familiar with the later models, they had a plastic fan and pulley in one, and the fan was quite large and moved plenty of air.

Fan

Il bet that motor isn't original to the machine.

Hoover twinnies AFAIK use the same or very similar motors that the tumble dryers used.

So that motor may not be original and taken from a tumble dryer hence the fan mounted to it. The fan on later Hoover dryers was mounted on the motor for the airflow thru the dryer.

That motor looks normal to me .I have one with the same motor complete with the fan
