I have been holding on to this latest find for a few weeks now... PhilR helped me with this latest acquisition - it was close to his home and he has a truck (and a good eye for top-load dishwashers!!) so he was kind enough to pick this up for me, knock down the asking price and bring it to Montreal for me!
Now, despite not wanting to undertake too many projects this year and hubby's claims of being at the 'dishwasher saturation point', I still managed to squeeze this cute little top-loader into the garage![this post was last edited: 5/24/2011-21:27]

It's the console that gives it away!
Introducing the Inglis Royal 100 top-loader. Not sure of what the equivalent Whirlpool model would be...

An attempted close-up of the cycle selection buttons...
Note the lack of a pots and pans or 'scour' cycle.

Inside the tub. Not bad shape - the racks are nice and clean, the silverware baskets are in perfect shape, wow, look at that - a 2nd wash arm!

Unusual detergent cup... Reminds me of the Kenmore Roto-Rack portables, but one cup is clearly meant to be 'open'. It does look as if I am missing the lid from the main wash cup. I doubt that part will still exist so I'll be doing some head-scratching about how to adapt or make a new one.

And the young man who named me 'turquoisedude' was there for the unveiling! His folks (pinkgurl here on the board is his mom) were in Ogden for the long holiday weekend in Ogden.

Hubby was concerned about the water in his garage, the fact that the space for the summer car is now occupied by 3 dishwashers, and the weight load on the beams in the loft upstairs....

Jake (the father of the lad in the previous pictures) heard about my 'bucket test' so he thought he'd try a 'brick test'. Hubby probably pût him up to that! LOL

The machine does work reasonably well, but it will need some tinkering...
The lower wash arm doesn't turn freely and there is a leak. Phil spotted that when he picked it up for me so now it will be a case of playing 'hide and seek'!

I have a strong suspicion that the leak is coming from around the heater element mounting. Note the rust - it could just need some cleaning and some gasket reinforcment... Or it could be the pump; in which case, I'll be asking LOTS of questions.. LOL
However, I have to get the 58 Frigidaire back together, figure out how to free up the Youngstown Jet-Tower pump and repaint the Montgomery Wards Signature Westy clone... So much for not taking on too many projects, eh??

Don't Give Up

Isn't there something your husband likes to do or collect?  We could take a donation among the fans of yours to support the other half in pursuing a distraction of his own.  Fair is fair, right?  I am always happy to see each new acquisition because you are so faithful in sharing the restoration and performance in video clips.  I always loved the decadent look of this control panel on the Whirlpool models I saw as a kid.  This is a machine that really knows how to clean.

Congratulations Paul!

John had a WP like that for a while or might still. The main disadvantage of the second wash arm is that it limits the height of stuff you can put in the lower rack, but overall, it is an advantage, just like two penes are to a Komodo dragon so that nothing blocks the action.

Rear Controls

That's a pretty cool dishwasher, I like the controls. Is this a WP made model or were the top-loaders D&M?

Having a helper is always a good thing, I spent a lot of time as a kid myself with my grandfather as he tinkered with appliances.

Everyone should have as much fun with their collections as you do Paul!

WP TL PORTABLE DW

Hi Paul and Tim this machine is very much like the one I had it went to a collector in Newhaven Connecticut and I think he must have sold it as someone else showed a picture of it on AW a short while ago. Tim the machine is 100% WP built and designed there is no nasty D&M in it anywhere.

I didn't notice the rust around the heating element! I hope you'll be able to fix it without too many problems! If I remember well, it also misses the ground prong (water leaks combined with missing ground prongs scare me a bit!).

Leaks fixing themselves now??

On the weekend, when I wasn't fiddling around with the Frigidaire, I tried another water test with the Inglis Royal top-loader to locate where the leak was coming from, but I didn't see one... I tried three more tests and there was nothing obvious. What the ????
The only logical explanation I can come up with is that the machine had been used with the wrong kind of detergent (the detergent cups and tub had traces of a heavy blue powder) and that the water tests I have done have flushed it out...
Now, if I can just convince hubby to let me bring it into the house for a full cycle test...

Aren't you the one who runs the dishwasher in that household?  Then you should have any dishwasher in there you wish to use.  That's why you have portables lol.

Oh Paul, Reply #10.

You snapped Mother Superior Hubby in his essence. What a treat! And a two-speeder WP/Inglis with back-mounted mega controls. Wonderful.

The nice little boy--distinctly remember standing in that pose with the arm behind my back hooked to the other one, back in the day--ah childhood!

All loaded up and ready to go! Of all the top-loaders in the collection, this is now the third with a multi-level wash system - seems almost weird to be putting in bowls and pans face-down in the bottom rack...
