I've been collecting about 2 years, and I think it's actually a pattern that was available via S&H Green Stamps, not sure. As you see in the cupboard, tons of this pattern, and on the table is one of each piece, 4 sizes of bowls, 3 platters, dinner plates, cups, saucers, pie plate, etc, all the usual fun.

Someone I know has or had dishes like those. I'm thinking it might be my neighbor down the street, who was married in 1961. I'll have to ask next time I go over.

You're in a good area to find that brand, as the factory in Sebring wasn't too far from you. I have several pieces of their ware packed up. Not sure if my Blue Willow is theirs or not.

Mark - what a great pattern! Thanks for sharing your collection! I have one piece - a platter - in this pattern and didn't know the name of it...I do now :-) It's a wonderful design.

Isn't it funny how many china patterns of that era included ash trays? It's hard to believe, but in the late 50's and early 60's almost 45% of adults smoked. I also love the coffee cups of that era - they were just the right size. Now coffee cups are gigantic.

I'm sure you'll find more matching glassware over time - keep collecting!

Star Glow

I have an incomplete set purchased at an estate sale several years ago. It was originally service for 12 but the most used pieces seem to have been the bowls. There are only two left. Essentially it's down to service for 8 except for the cups and saucers of which there are 11 or 12. The only serving piece is a platter.

I love the glasses. I wish those were included but I didn't spot them among other items at the sale or I would have grabbed them, although I doubt they're dishwasher safe. I got everything for $20.

Yes Kevin! Coffee cups back then were just the right size! I hate the gigantic cups and mugs that every manufacture makes and sells today. I recently watched a You Tube of “The Old Curiosity Shop” and Scott the guy that makes these videos was drinking his coffee out of a Jadite Green Fire King mug, the kind that I remember being sold in every grocery store in the 50’s and 60’s. I immediately went on Ebay and found 4 white ones for a good price and bought them.

I haven’t enjoyed drinking a cup of tea so much in years! They hold 8 oz. are comfortable in my hand and they allow the tea or coffee to cool off quicker so I can begin to drink it right away without burning my mouth and lips. These were considered to be large cups in the 50’s and early 60’s when the average size coffee/tea cup was 5 to 6 oz. And they match our Corelle Dazzling White saucers much better than the off white crockery mugs that came with the set originally.

I like them so much that I’ve found 4 more at a good price and they are on their way to me from New Jersey right now.

BTW,

Mark I love your Star Glow dishes and glasses! You have a very nice set. I bet they are a real conversation piece when you serve company a meal off of them.

Jeff Parker has the same dinnerware. It was given to him by his mom. She bought them a little at a time from the Jewel Supermarket back in the 60's. The photo is his Thanksgiving table from 2021.
