Have seen these units go for $$$ on eBay or thrifts, and cannot imagine what the furore is all about.

Basically one has a ventless dryer that runs on 110v (so right there we are speaking of rather limited drying power), and spews hot air and lint out of the front/into the room.

Ventless dryers have been around in various incarnations from the Hoover/Maytag portables (mates of their twin tub washers), to the Asian made GE/Speed Queen models. These vented to the rear, but still do not command the prices seen for the Sanyo units. What is the deal?

Dryer- 220v to 110v conversion (both 60hz.)

If I go to a rental for a while,

1) I may try to get a GE 220 v to 110v convertible electric dryer from the 60's 70's. (May not be able to vent to the out-of-doors).

2) I may buy a regular electric machine (full-size) and either rig it to use 110v with the exisitng/provided element element, or use an element for a portable 110v machine and rig it.

We shall see.
Anyone ever do this successfully?
Can one get a full-sized 110v condenser dryer in the states?
