No harm, no foul. No fuss, no muss. Telling me to get my head out my ass got a little close, but I figured he just wanted to get my head out the way so he could kiss my pastey, white butt... You know who you are... ;)

Thank you, Greg, Brent and Panthera. Just those few words make the world right.

So, I guess from the pics above, Obama would be, oh, a WCI that you have to keep sinking money into to keep it running?

Keep it light, guys. Keep it light...

Gotta great laugh out of the phone & train analogies!

My biggest gripe with the Obama campaign is that he is gathering steam like some sort of celebrity fad. From my vantage point, Obama's popularity is based purely on "herd" mentality and as a fad, sort of like the way teenagers go crazy over the latest boy-band....Folks, we are not electing the next American-Idol Celebrity, we are electing a President!!! We need to be looking at ideals, policies and the issues, not just with the other person likes, or who we deem is the "in" person today is!

...I do agree...Obama is like the faddish I-phone, while Biden is like a Reliable, "down to business" blackberry! McCain, yes, he's like the old-fashioned, reliable land line, and Palin, well she's just a lotta fun!

As far as the trains go, well, hasn't Japan had some reliability issues with the sotware on the bullet trainslately?
Biden being compared to the Acella Express? That's had it's share of performance issues too (I see Biden as more reliable than that) And McCain, well, he's getting compared to another old-fasioned, yet reliable machine, that yes, sparks the intriuge of people to this day! Palin? Where's Sir Toppemhat?!?!?

RNC shells out $150K for Palin fashion

I came across this and knew I had to post it here:

The Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.

The cash expenditures immediately raised questions among campaign finance experts about their legality under the Federal Election Commission's long-standing advisory opinions on using campaign cash to purchase items for personal use.

Politico asked the McCain campaign for comment, explicitly noting the $150,000 in expenses for department store shopping and makeup consultation that were incurred immediately after Palin’s announcement. Pre-September reports do not include similar costs.

Spokeswoman Maria Comella declined to answer specific questions about the expenditures, including whether it was necessary to spend that much and whether it amounted to one early investment in Palin or if shopping for the vice presidential nominee was ongoing.

“The campaign does not comment on strategic decisions regarding how financial resources available to the campaign are spent," she said.

Have you attended any rallies this election? Barack Obama has been doing exactly that -- talking about issues and explaining his views and ideas -- for months. And what are we hearing from McCain and Palin? Obama is an unknown, Obama is a celebrity, Obama is a socialist, Obama pals around with terrorists. Obama doesn't represent "real" America. And on and on. Just endless, pathetic rhetoric that has absolutely nothing to do with the problems facing our country. It's the major reason McCain's campaign has tanked.

~What a shame
It's pretty sad how much of an emphasis our society places on looks.

1- I suppose it makes for as good a criterion as any other to judge one by when intelligence and/or character is lacking.

2- But at least you don't see (I didn't say HEAR) the candidates in sweatpants or otherwise looking like the Beverly Hillbillies.

Well, I don't know...

Jethro was kinda cute in a rough and tumble way...
In the end tho', the folks who are going to vote for Palin and what's-his-name are pretty much the kind susceptible to and only capable of interest in such superficialities...else they would not do so, no?
If we acknowledge 'yellow-dog democrats' (me, for one), then I guess we have to admit that there are republicans who really believe that the GOP is God's Only Party.
Still, if'n I had me druthers, I'd take Jethro anyday.
Hell, I'd prefer the dawg if push came to shove...

Early voting is up everywhere

mostly independents and democrats, except for Florida.
Many folks, when asked why they are voting early, have answered that they want to avoid or had been previously 'challenged' at the polls and were not going to put up with it this time.

I was challenged the first time I voted and had to call in the feds to cast my vote...not that my being one of three registered members of my party in that precinct could have possibly had anything to do with it, oh no...they had me filed with my first name as my 'last' name and simply had not found me...at least, that was the excuse they came up with when the feds showed up 45 minutes later, threatening serious jail time...

Will voter challenges work this time? Did the Supreme Court decision of last week make clear enough that the Robert's court would not rubber-stamp, unlike the previous court?

Here in Europe, it is not only forbidden, but only election judges and registered voters are permitted in the election room. Anyone who tries to prevent or challenge a voter is culpable of one of the very few crimes which get serious prison terms and fines. Why do Americans permit such a system? Is there a value to it, or is it a left-over from the days when blacks were murdered when they tried to cast their votes? I find no record that both parties do it, only one.
How would you react if you were challenged? I must confess, given the area I lived in, I had expected trouble and came armed with the phone number to call just in case...

$150,000 wardrobe

$2500 per day for wardrobe expenses

If John Edwards got a $400 haircut (remember the tizzy the GOP's had over that? turnabout is fair play) every week, it would take him 7.2 years to spend $150k

Her wardrobe budget could have paid four plumber's salaries for a year.

She has spent more on clothing than the average family spends in 80 years.

The "average Joe" could have bought 25,000 six-packs of beer.

Now THAT's how you connect with the working class voter! YAY!

One Democrat put it another way: her clothing budget would have paid for healthcare for 15 people.

I did get some from there and added a few others!

Yes, but HuffPo gets bashed for their bias, and much of the time it's deserved, but those numbers are just too decadent - that many won't hear on Fox News.

I really don't know anything about women's fashion but it does seem like she could have looked nice in less-expensive clothes. Bush & Co. like to say we're very nearly in a recession and economic downturns all always hardest on the poorest. All of this is a distraction though; "American Idol - The White House!"

Sarah Palin

channels her inner south carolina Miss teen beauty queen.....<p> this interview so reminded me of that incident. I found this on youtube and loved it.... ALL HAIL TO THE CHIEFTESS !

...actually, I did today. Obama was in town here, and the rally actually just hardened my views. I had to visit the coliseum downtown to service some A/V equipment that in my opinion think got sabotaged, just before the rally was to start. Yes, you are totally correct, McCain's campaign has been flubbed as he is just throwing character attacks at Obama ...well, looks like this Palin wardrobe is just lobbing the same s--t back! I saw quite a large amount of money being thrown out at this rally. Don't just think because there isn't a woman running on the Democratic side the wardrobe budget is any less, and that those guys dont' wear makeup when in front the public!

The rally today reminded me just like I said of a bunch of teenage girls going crazy over a boy-band...they don't know why they like him, but they just like him because he's popular and everyone else does! Well folks, we aren't electing the next American Idol, we are electing the next American President!!!

What did I hear? well, I heard lots of empty promises, sort of like the class president running saying that he/she is going to make recesses and lunches longer, get rid of stupid school rules, etc. Well, we all know how those student governments work...nothing really happens, and those promises are totally empty. I also heard a lot of what I call "Constution destruction" The constution and bill of rights in this country is only as good as the people we elect to defend it, and from what I heard from Obama about they way he wants to run the country...the constution is basically just an old, outdated piece of paper!

...that has me worried!

Part of what scares me about Obama too is that when looking back through history at tyrannical leaders, they came into power after promising "change" after the previous leader/administration bungled and botched things up really bad. This election seems to be following the same course!

Demons at an exorcisim--------

and they will scream louder and louder.
If anyone's a socialist it's Bush---as evidenced by his corporate bailouts.
Well, socialist for the very wealthy and the rest of us shmucks can deal with the old capitalist system.

Here's another opinion:
