Never expected another one of these...an Osterizer Commercial!! This appears to be a little newer than the one we have now, as the On/Off switch is a knob instead of pushbuttons.

Besides the Vita-Mix, these blenders make GREAT smoothies and are much quieter and more powerful than their household counterparts. This one is rated at 1/2 HP!

what a beauty!

Cool blender Austin, and Osterizer is the best there is!
I have a bunch of vintage blenders and mixers decorating my Kitchen, I should take some pictures!
Probably the reason this commercial model is so quiet is the base is metal, whereas the household models have been plastic since the early 1980's.
Enjoy it!
Jeff

Another commercial variant

Seems Oster was up to their usual in the commercial models as well, LOL
I have a similar commercial 8 speed.
There are two on and off buttons
A hi and lo button
and a pulse button
The dial on mine is graded 1 thru 4 for when LO button pressed
and 5 thru 8 when the HI button is pressed
3 prong outlet like yours 10 amp motor.
It also came with believe it or not a "plastic" Oster jar of all things at that price. (Thankfully I have plenty of extra glass ones, blades, etc) along with the SS cocktail mixer.
Very good buy for $1.50, we paid at least $200 for the machine new circa 1984 and it has mixed plenty of frozen daiqueries over the years. Oddly it didn't come with much of an instruction booklet, the one it did come with is a thin and very plain (almost typewritten looking)booklet with only a few basic recipes, some drink recipes and some "health and beauty" aid recipes for making home made facial masks etc. When I get my scanner working I can post some of them.

This isn't our first

We also have an older 8-speed model purchased via eBay. The blade assembly needed to be replaced, but otherwise worked fine. Love the no-handle SS jars...they get "frosty" while you're using it!

Very nice find Austin. Now you will have to run out and get some fruit and ice cream and make smoothies! Jetcone will be at waiting at your front door taping his foot, holding out an empty glass.

blenders, blenders, blenders

Austin, here's a couple of pics of my Kitchen with its tribute to Sunbeam & Oster, and one of my daily driver, a 1972-ish Osterizer Cyclomatic, the BEST blender ever made in my opinion!

Decorating with Appliances

Great Mixers Jeff, its so fun how so many of us decorate with Appliances! We have those same pillsbury pot holders too! It looks like you have a very high celing in your kitchen.

my ceiling...

My house is 1972 contemporary, I like it alot, and can only imagine how cutting edge the place must have looked back in the 70's.
My Living room, dining room and kitchen are all under one cathedral ceiling, gives the place a HUGE feel, but OY to paint it!
The highest point is the wall above the kitchen sink, its 20 feet down to the floor from there.
I had to hire painters to paint the place last year!
BTW, the wall color is a custom job called neptune green, matched quite nicely at the paint store...its the color of Hoover Convertible model 69!

Jeff, very nice collection of small appliances!! Sounds like you have a really cool house too...1972 Contemporary, and I thought I had seen that color somewhere before!

Here's what we have blender-wise so far even though it's a little blurry (will take a better picture); I'll have to drag out the mixers & whippers for a photo lineup tomorrow as well! :)

L-R: VitaMix 500 (from what I've been told, it's an Osterizer design with annoyingly small jar; if it were my choice this thing would have been eBayed a long time ago...), Osterizer Pulse-Matic Cycle-Blend (found it at a sale in Omaha during the Convention), Osterizer Commercial, Osterizer Commercial #2 (earlier model with 8 speeds; bought it off eBay), Vita-Mix Sidewinder. Those large Vita-Mixes are the best, sturdiest blenders I have seen...the next one I'm after is a Super 3600! Greg, you need to give Mom a sales pitch on that model! ;-)

Thank you lord

I was beginning to think I was the only one here with a big blender collection.. I was good today though and passed on a Kenmore badged Oster, with the sliding control lever.
I like the Cycla matics as well, just set and then you can go sit and watch it go to town.
I'm still trying to find my early early Oster Cocktail Mixer in the house somewhere. I can't for the life of me figure out where I put it.
Any more models at your place? or other makes?

Pete,
Most of what I have is displayed, I have a couple of Hamilton Beach models not displayed though.
The prize amongst the blenders is my 50th anniversary Golden Osterizer Cyclomatic 14. In the first pic I posted, its the 2nd one from the left.

Austin, the commercial Osterizers were often demonstrated and sold at state fairs and home shows, much like the Vita Mix.

Jeff, it's fun to see your collection again and the green wall color is great! I remember the Cyclomatic like the style you use daily, mine, and the only vintage blender I kept for the move to California because the Cyclomatic is also my favorite, is the one you have between the model 11 and 12, which I think predates the one you use.

If you take an Osterizer from the past 15, 20 years and compare it to one more than 30 years old, the difference is just amazing even though they don't look that different. The older ones have higher wattage motors, are quieter, and unbelievably heavy.

I had bought one of the 3600 Vita Mixes when everyone was getting interested in them about a year ago. Very pretty and fun to use, as I had always loved seeing them at the fair and wanted one. I must have had a high mileage one as it gave up the ghost after a few months, so I took advantage of Vita Mix's trade in program and got a new Super 5000. Maybe a bit less pizazz but it's a wonderful and very powerful machine. I'll probably add another of the vintage stainless ones back into my collection eventually.

Thanks Jeff and Austin for sharing your collections. When we had our vacuum convention in the Chicago area last year both Jeff and Fred Nelson were kind enough to open up there homes so we could all enjoy their fantasitc collections. Jeff, sometimes you should post a picture of your Osterizer night light, such a neat idea. I too have an Oster Cyclomatic blender bought new in 1974 I believe. Model 877. Mine refuses to cycle automatically. I returned it once for repair about 20 years ago and it worked for only a short time after that. It still works like a regular blender but just doesn't cycle on and off. I have always loved this blender as well and still use it. Terry

Repost of some of mine

This is why I really have to get some shelving. And there's more than just these.
There is no rhyme or reason that I can see when it comes to Oster, like I've said I think they just throw something together every few months.
The Commercial models run about 1200 watts, mine isn't that quiet.
My TOL Pulse Matic 16 (cycle blend) all chrome, very heavy is 825 watts, so so for noise
and the obviously cheaper but similar avacado green Pulse Matic 10 is plastic, (no cycle blend either) has 980 watts and contrary to belief is quieter than both the commercial or the TOL model.
The Oster Kitchen Centers are pretty cool, numerous versions of those abound in control panel layouts etc. The models with the speed control dial rheostats are particulary well suited for slow speed stirring, on slow you can add your can of Minute Maid, fill the jar right to the rim (3 cans worth) put the lid on and not even have to hold the lid down. The only other blender that can stir even slower is the Ronson Cook'n'Stir

Nice collections, y'all!

Hey Ausitn- if you guys every paint your wainscotting another color, let me know. I recognize your home just based on the color in the background! LOL. I was happy the broom cleaner from Omaha matched. Had to laugh that your Westinghouse T/L agitators did sorta too!

Anyway. --PeteK:

I wouldn't mind revisting your blender-like appliance that also cooks and stirs. May I request a re-view? If anyone is parting with one.... I'm willing to buy and ship.

If not for this forum, talk to me off-line. tks.

-Steve

NOW look what you've all done..the collecting bug has hit ME--Mr.(at one time) minimalist ans Mr. dispersion.

Here it is Steve, the infamous Ronson Cook'n'Stir. Any serious collector worth his salt should have one of these beauties. I suppose one day it will pass on, when I pass on LOL. They are out there, find them on Ebay occasionally but they are no where near as easy to find as say an Oster. If you do find one, check first that the rubber gasket that seals the blender jar to the jars base is in good shape and water tight, otherwise it will just leak like a sieve. It's the only real downfall and getting a replacement seal is next to impossible..
