Help Support :

Austin:WOW!! That is a nice Oster blender.Besides commercial use-Oster blenders were used in chemestry labs for preparing items in those.Waring made blenders for that use too.Yours resembles a lab blender. The SS jar can be steam or gas sterilized.Soil test labs use blenders to prepare the samples for tests.I had a similar blender to yours-bought it at Sears of all places My Mom needed a blender so I gave her the one I bought from Sears.I use the Vita-Mix instead-The Osters are excellent machines.-and Quiet as well-mixing your drink doesn't have to sound like you are firing up the ocean racing boat engine in the kitchen!

What to do when the motor burns out...

This was rescued from a junk store for $2, the motor ran but arched badly.
It was too pretty to throw away, so I did this:
I wired the light into the on/off switch on the front.

Love all the blender pics guys. Pete I used to have a cook & stir, that thing would puree a brick!
Loud as all get out though!
Keep them coming!

re post of the Philips aka Hamilton Beach

I like this one, glass jar, top half of base is chromed, 720 watt motor, fairly quiet and hide a way cord. Very decorative vegetable, fruit and drink motifs as well.

Another thing on the SS jar blenders-these are also considered 'Bar Blenders"used at the bar for preparing drinks.Bar blenders are usually very simple-have SS or Lexan jars. The motors on these are just "on-off" or only a few speeds. The jars on these are designed for liquids and crushing ice.-The SS jars help keep the icy drinks cold.

Silex Blendette on Ebay

Cant quite see the condition. These are great "little" 1950's blenders made only for liquids. 90 watts and a blade more like a milk shake machine. The base is very small and the square glass jars don't have a handle... they only want $5.99 for it plus 7 for shipping..

Phillips

Pete that philips blender is darn near identical to US Hamilton Beach.
I'll have to post a pic of one of the ones I have.

I'm pretty sure it is an HB Jeff...he also has a Phillips mixer that looks just like the old standard HB, the chrome version of which you have up on top of your cabinets.

Hi Rex, my other Osterizer Commercial (the 8-speed model) makes EXCELLENT drinks and at the same time doesn't make as much noise as the others, which is why I picked this one up. I like the Vita-Mix Sidewinder and it does an excellent job thanks to the Instant Blade Reversal, but it's pretty much a circular saw for your kitchen (for those who don't have one, I highly recommend one, but first notice how BIG they are is...make sure you have plenty of space between the counter and cabinets or else it won't fit!) and is sometimes too big to drag out. The Osterizers fit the bill there.

I'm on the hunt for a Super 3600 or 4000 next...would definitely be a good "Dorm Blender"...

austin: I have both the 3600 and the 4000 in my collection-bought the 4000 NEW-last of 'em.The 3600 came from a garage sale-Easy to spot on Sat morning coming home from a mid shift-tried it out making my breakfast banana drink-worked perfectly. It sure stood out on the sellers table-easy to spot 'em going by.
the new "Plastic" Oster blenders are the ones that sound like you are gunning the racing boat motor to fix your drink. The NOISE-the older Oster machines were so QUIET-but very effective.Yes you really can get gas powered blenders-they use Oster containers and have a weedeater motor in the base.Usually aPoulan or homelite weedeater motor.
In the older VM blenders they did just that-used a Black and Decker router or circular saw motor in their older Reversable blenders. The new machines use a different motor-11.5A or 15A 120V.I have some of their commercial machines that use 11.5 and 15A motors. These will blend ANY drink with ease. All of my VM and Blendtec blenders won't fit under my cabinets-but OK with me I love those machines.Just wait till I drag out my 1 Gal Waring machine!!.You have to clear a big space on the counter for that.Gives you a feel of power to press the start buttons on it.One visitor to my house called my kitchen "Blender corner"He was fascinated with all of the blenders and food processors and mixers.I also have a commercial half gal Oster bar blender I bought new years ago.Its plastic-noisey-but effective. The dealer didn't have the models with the metal bases.I am still looking for one.they are very nice looking and business like. They can be used with Lexan or SS jars.

1 gallon capacity...WHOA!!! Is this vintage or new? The largest new Waring I could find had a 1/2 gallon jar...I'd like to see what one of these looks like!!

The TailGator is interesting, but with that 2-cycle engine, you would definitely be smelling like gas after mixing up drinks there!

There's a couple of Cook'n'Stirs on Ebay at the moment if anyones interested.

Scott...I'm meaning to send you that mixer, do you want to wait till after your move. At any rate, the speed I move getting things done lately you may just be on the west coast..LOL

Austin: The Waring 1 Gal machines are still made-Try looking up the Waring website-they are listed in their commercial section and lab blender section-the attachments for the 1 gal machine are bizare in the lab section.the adaptor for the 1 gal machine to use 1Qt containers on it.also Hamilton Beach Commercail makes 1 Gal blenders and Hobart has them as well. They are monsters!!
The gas motor blenders were intended to use outdoors or even while camping.Sometimes 2 cycle motors are stubborn in starting-esp the Poulan motor. The 1 gal machine I have is a little over 10 years old.Waring had been making the 1 Gal machines for a long time. Both the institutional food preparation and labs love them. Was listed in the older "Cooks Catalog"the caption said for it-"Just what Ann Sarain needed to prepare the roast in a blender"She wrote many cookbooks in the 50's and 60's for the blender. The 1 gal machines are less popular now becuase of the weight of the container when its full. Was causing wrist injuries for frequent users.I bought mine from the Hardees Food Service Supply long ago-same compant that owns the Hardees restuarants.they used to be in Rocky Mount NC-they moved somewhare else after Floyd.Their facility was completly fooded.

Very neat blender & mixer collection Hoover! I like the way you have them displayed across the top of the cabinets! That green is definitely a nice color...hope you don't mind me taking that color and using it in my own decor. I'm renovating now, and am to the point of color selection!

For displaying those, a string of rope lights, or some small puck lights between each appliance and shining up would make a nice look, and give good, indirect light all the while displaying and hi-lighting your neat collection!

PNE Blenders

Does anyone know if they still sell good quality blenders at a reasonable price at the PNE in Vancouver. If you do, what kind are they? I am in need of a new blender. I have a Pulse Mate Oster that I would like to replace.
thanks
