All...
A few weeks ago thread 572881 had a Bendix machine available in NJ. The auctioneer contacted me and the machine is still available .. $100. Sounds like it has to be moved in the next week or so! Currently, I do not have a way or time to get this darling home to Michigan ... I sure hope someone closer can get it and add to your collection.

See the 572881 thread for link and pics.

sellers name is Raj
sellers email: [email protected]

Can you link to the thread? All of the recent threads on AW.org that I see are 38XXX or 39XXX. The posts within the threads are numbered 57XXXX but I would have to open every thread to find the post number you listed.

Paging MisterEric

Think he was interested in that unit and actually peeped the thing whilst at the sale on it's first go around.

Should also like to say one was right again when one stated the unit wouldn't sell at anywhere near what the estate sale person wanted. He or she ran the sale again this weekend (was going to go but the weather was not great for wandering around North NJ), and guess the Bendix once again failed to have any takers so now it's time to think again.

Unlike other household items in this and other sales one assumes the seller does not have space nor wish to "store" large appliances such as the washer/dryer in hopes of eventually getting a good price and so it's either sell at what one can get, leave it where it tis, or put it out for the scrappers to pick apart/haul away.

I did see it, but I have no space for this beast. Shame really. If I had the space I would do it in a second.

The machine is in a kitchen and kinda installed, so it would be a bear to get out without damaging the place.

If I only had the room I'd gladly take it. Yogi you want to store it for me?

I would love it too...

But I don't think that would fit down my basement stairs! lol Plus I am afraid of the work it may need. Still have my eye on it, but Louie got his eye on it too I see. :-)

House might not have been built around it, indeed, but there are very crumbly cement steps with a bend in them leading out the front door, and the cabinets are very snug. I hope someone saves it, but after seeing it where it sits, and with my space constraints, I don't think I can muster it.

If someone could help...

I MAY be interested, but I cannot even think about it unless there is help in moving and money is tight right now too. Plus I am still trying to get machines out of the basement first.

Really? They definitely appear larger than they are then. Do you know how wide as well? Or weight. I'm really putting some serious thought into this, but not totally sold yet.

Yea it would keep me warm wouldn't it. I'll have to think tonight and contact in the morn. Anyone want to go with me? The bf is off limits on this one lol

Wha was your opinion of it Eric?

I think it wouldn't be bad, if the seller had movers with big muscles who'd free the machine and get it to the driveway. Still, its going to be a PITA to get it to your place, and those basement stairs, yeee

I second that Eric. Plus now with the incoming Calypso in the next week or two, I'm already having a space issues. Once the Maytag HOH & the 60's GE dryer goes, I will still need to consider washer departures as well.

When a good friend helped me move my '57 Bendix Combo down my stairs several years ago, I thought it would be a pretty easy deal.

WRONG.

Please be careful and make sure you are using a high quality appliance cart or Escalera to move this beast. The Bendix almost crushed me!

The cart makes the difference. I recently just moved a very heavy (400 pounds) combo out of a very tight 90 degree turn area out of a basement. I was pulling and my buddy was pushing from below. If I had used my older, junk-cart it wouldn't have happened.
