A dear friend of mine saves appliances which tenants abandon in his rental properties. We sell the good ones, and strip and scrap the others. There were two fridges and one upright freezer which were weathered and deformed from dropping off a truck; and about to go to the scrap yard.
Today I saved two "good, old" unit bearing GE condenser fan motors; one plasti-craptastic condenser fan motor; and three compressors; plus a magnetron and its accompanying transformer and capacitor. Of the compressors; one of them is Whirlpool "cylinder" style which may be fairly old. The others are a Tecumseh and a no-name.
These will be saved for fixing friends or family's fridges.
