Thanks for the information Bobby, I am going to look for one of these too. You have a beautiful plant there.

Hi Bobby, doing fine here. I had wondered how long the blooms lasted, good thing there are lots of them. Hope that all is well with you too!! Terry

This flower started to grow in, of all things, the same container as an orange tree I have in my courtyard. I never planted it, and there are no others like it on the property, so maybe a bird was responsible.

Anybody know what it might be?

Rich, that looks like some sort of begonia family to me. It sure looks happy!

Shane, check the floral department at supermarkets. Around here they are full of these cacti for the holidays. I have a big one that's decades old and a smaller one in a hanging pot that I started from a piece that broke off the mother plant. I've determined that these plants tend to prefer shade. In brighter sunnier locations the pads go from deep green to very faded, and can even develop a purple or redish tint depending on the variety. They like food, and unlike your classic desert cactus, want fairly regular water. I think a nice shady area on a porch/patio or in a Florida garden would be paradise for one of these.

We want pix if you get one!

Terry: here is a pic from today.
Andy: I need to learn a little more about downloading pics. Half of the time it won't work!
