DD compacts

I had a Kenmore compact like this one when I first got my condo. It had the dual action agitator and did have very brisk action. What I did not like about it was the lack of a direct spray of water inside the basket. The water inlet is sprays into the outer tub instead. The basket is designed to allow water in during the spin, but not very well. I never felt that my clothes were very rinsed in that machine and there was no second rinse option. Otherwise it did pretty well.

These machines actually spin at the same speed as a full-sized DD, which is 640 RPM. Not really the best move on Whirlpool's part as the narrow tub hurts the extraction ability. The earlier BDs really have the edge there.

hmm

I may be off on the model, but the compacts of this general era I am familiar with have a two-speed, carefully built up spin with an end speed of around 800rpm. I say around, because I did the calculations using basket diameter, motor speed and all this more than 20 years ago...
But there have been so many variations on this series, no doubt I am thinking of another model.

spin speeds

the DD compact Kenmore I had did all of the exact same functions and a full-size. I didn't see any difference in wash or spin speed. In fact, the only noticeable difference was the Heavy Duty cycle washed with a high and then low agitation depending on how long the cycle was going to be. Everything else was the same.

I once worked on a stackable Whirlpool set and if I'm not mistakened, isn't the dryer made like a Frididaire or something like that? Instead of the trusty old Whirlpool/Kenmore design?
