Maytag!

Hi Jeff,
Does the Power Boost option boost the water temperature to 140 or just stay on to maintain the heat? I remember a friend had a Maytag from about 81 or 82 and was a more basic model and had no water heating. It was a good DW but you had to have the water real hot for it to work good. Thats why I liked the KitchenAids better at that time because they always gave a hot wash. I was just wondering if this Power Boost option was like sure temp?
Real cool machine.

Power Boost

Hey Pete,
I think that must be what thats for, my mom had an older version of this DW from 1982, and hers had a "sani-scrub" button which this machine does not have.
I can remember my mom always running water at the sink before firing up the DW, just to make sure there was hot water for the machine

Power Boost

Yes the sani scrub was a seperate cycle that heated the water but to no specific temperature. Was the one your mom had a quit machine? The one my friend had was really noisy. I was wondering if the TOL was quiter?
Thanks,
Peter

The Maytag I just got rid of had both the sani scrub and temp. boost buttons. You had to select either normal or sani scrub. When sani was selected the heating element was on continuously during the wash and rinse cycles. When normal was selected the element was off. If Temp. boost was selected, then the water was heated to a certain temp. (I can't remember what it was) during the main wash. While the water was being heated the ON indicator light would be off, and the cycle timer would delay until the water had reached the correct temperature. There are pics of my Maytag in one of the other threads. It had 5 buttons - Normal or Sani, Temp Boost, heated dry, energy saver. in addition to the timer dial.

loud Maytag

Sorry Pete, I missed your question earlier. Mom's '82 Maytag was not overly loud, in my memory the most prominent sound was the slosh of the water inside as it was going. I suppose it would be about the same as my KDS17A, although on it I hear more motor sound than water.
The '82 Maytag was my first experience with a dishwasher, and set the standard by which I have judged all others since
