Sears built "Flair type" range

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

One of my aunts had one of these Roper manufactured ranges, and never liked it much. Oven door got out of alignment easily, and cooktop got difficult to pull out after a while. She wishes she had chosen something else, such as a GE. Getting something out of the oven when the cooktop was in use, especially with something tall such as a stockpot, was inconvenient.

A GE or Hotpoint would be a better choice, as would a Frigidaire. Any of those were better quality.

Best 1960s high oven electric ranges

From best to worst, I’m considering most heavily durability and performance, note G E, Tappan and modernmaid only made 30 inch versions of these high oven ranges.

General Electric

Hotpoint Hallmark

Frigidaire

Westinghouse

Tappan

Modern maid

And bringing up the rear, the roper, Kenmore, high oven ranges.

Of these Only modernmaid Tappan and Roper Kenmore had gas versions.

There were a few smaller players, such as Sunray, Brown stove works and probably a few others that I don’t have enough experience with, but the few that I saw were never very good.
