The 275 load boxes were $21.99 here last week, I bought the last 3 boxes, just pissed that they dont come in buckets anymore

I like the Ultra Plus in the orange box. Bought a box back in May and I haven't finished it yet.

sometimes I will mix this box with a box of TIDE w/BLEACH powder about a 40 use box.....just for the smell and the extra boost.....for me 110 percent cleaning results...with six kids, I have got laundry and stains, big time, I never have to worry about pre-treating or re-washing, all stains gone the first time.....can't beat it!.....if I have some stains that I think will be tough, I'll add an extra scoop and stop the machine during the wash for an hour or so, as a soak, some of the best results can be obtained, mostly in warm or hot water, for me not great results in cold, doesn't disolve well in cold either......

also keep your package tightly closed, moisture will cause it to clump up.....

I too miss the bucket they used to come in....

Don't they have the UP orange in the 275 load size? I was thinking of trying a box with the built in fabric softener this time.

Yes, I believe you can get all the formulas in the bigger box, just depends on what the store in your area stocks, you can actually go online to SEARS.com, and search "laundry detergents"....they even carry TIDE with hydrogen peroxide...and DYNAMO in a 5 gallon bucket...who knew?

plus a wide assortment of cleaners by the piece or by the case....just a thought!

What makes the Sears soap better?

I've seen this soap for years, but I really don't know anything about it.

What, in your opinion, makes this detergent a good buy and a better detergent than the ones at the grocery store?

With the economy tight, if this detergent is a better value than what I've been buying and does a better job, then it might be something to look into.

lets start with price.....for $22.99 you get 275 loads....thats 0.0836 cents per load....even at full price thats 0.981 cents per load

for your budget....think of it this way....if you did ONE load per day, this box would last you a little over 9 months, or $2.56 per month for detergent....

even the smaller box at $12.99 for 125 loads....0.104 cents per load or $3.25 per month

for cleaning....it does a very good job of cleaning the clothes, I just prefer to use warm or hot water with it for best results, you can even put in extra scoops for really dirty clothes, non sudsing, rinses clean, great for high efficiency washers, a light lemon scent, many formulas to choose from.....great for soaking too....sprinkle some on a sponge to clean your tub/shower or sinks, or disolve some in a bucket of hot water for general cleaning and scrubbing decks...

I'm a TIDE fan big time, but sometimes the budget says different, to me this is the next best thing....I have 6 kids, and have stains galore, and laundry up the yingyang...with three daily drivers this box last me about 4 months at around $5.75 per month for detergent

Give it a try...remember, they will refund your money if you don't like it!....or call 1-800-837-0994...they sent me a free sample years ago, don't know if they still do that, but worth a try

Liquid vs Powder

OK now that the powder has been compared, how is the liquid? The reason is that it's easier for me to have liquid rather than a big box of soap in my condo. Besides, I have cats that like to explore.

According to the bottle you get 33 loads...$6.99 each...that's 0.211 cents per use...now your up to about $7.00 per bottle, not exactly the same kind of savings, but you decide...

option....store the box, and softner, bleach, and dryer sheets in the dryer when not in use, isn't that what the dryer rack was for, besides drying sneakers?... common sense this is only when you need them when the machines are running, consider it a storage cabinet, been there, done that!...also consider colapsable laundry hampers in place of baskets, they fold flat when not in use and also store in the dryer.....you'd be suprised what you can improvise, look around and give it some thought

Some of you posted awhile back that this product was made by a company called desoto chemical & that they have outstanding customer service .

After I saw the thread I went to sears to stock up .

What I find amusing is that we know more about this detergent & the company that makes it then the sears sales people do.

What is the difference between the green box and the orange box? I just bought the green for my sister and except for the number of uses, I can't see a difference.

The difference is the orange is the original formula with an enzyme to help clean the clothes

the green one has two forms of enzymes to clean a broader range of stains....

I just prefer to go GREEN...use all the power available to get them clean the first time

from what I have seen, they all come in the same size/use boxes....125, 180, 275, I may be wrong, but thats all I see in the stores and web site....

More on saving money....have you guys considered buying concentrates?...At Lowe's and Homo Depot, they sell ZEP products in Gallons, most from $6.99 to $11.99, of various cleaning products from window, all-purpose, tub and tile, floor cleaners...an example would be the window cleaner, cost $7.99 a gallon, take an empty WINDEX bottle and add 1 ounce of concentrate to make a 32 ounce bottle of cleaner, now for those of you who missed this, this gallon makes 128 bottles of window cleaner, how long will this last you?....and WINDEX cost about $2.99 per bottle in the stores....$2.99 X 128 = $382.72....now I like it a little stronger and mix in 2 ounces per bottle, but it's still a big savings....

note: not ALL of the products are concentrates, but still a lot cheaper than the name brand per bottle.....

I never throw the pails away, they are great for cleaning buckets if I don't need a lot of water. I also store extra dishwasher detergent in them as well. The 17.3 lb box box took two large containers and one smaller container. You could also use the buckets that kitty litter comes in too.

The hotel that I worked at would by detergent from Sam's Club in the big buckets and they would just throw them out when empty. I took a bunch home with me one time but I didn't get the lids for them, they were thrown away as soon as a bucket was opened.

I love the

orange box version. One of the best, if not the best detergents I have ever used. Cleans well, almost no suds, and rinses excellently.

I used it in both my Frigidaire fl'er and Maytag tl'er hardly any suds in either of them.

Worked very well on some heavily grass stained jeans. Soaked them in the Maytag and then ran them through a full cycle couldn't find a single grass stain after that.

Stopped at Sears Outlet since we were passing it today, and they had the 125 load box of free and clear for $12.99. The signage reflected that $12.99 was the regular price! Hmmmmm!!

Took a box to the checkout so we could try it out. No line other than a couple in front of us buying a stove, some air fresheners, and a few $24.99 close-out DVD players. After waiting a couple of minutes and giving looks, the cashier/salesperson called for help over the PA system. Several minutes went by and no one showed up. He was finishing franking the sales form when he handed the couple some bags, and said if they'd like this to go a little faster, they could put the smaller stuff in bags. The hubby asked if the other goodies had been rung up yet, as the total they were paying seemed low, and the sales-idiot said they hadn't! He wanted to do those in a separate transaction since they were taking them with them. 5-freeking minutes, at least, and he didn't have anything other than the stove taken care of! Needless to say, Rich and I looked at each other, made a possibly audible comment or two, after which I popped the box of detergent right on the sales counter and we walked out.

WOW!

Rich will be near Sears later this week and will try for the larger box which is a better deal anyway.

Gotta love it!
