Confused here...

How do you start this machine? Does it have a mechanical timer? Does it use solid state electronics? Maybe I missed something in the pictures.

Oh I see... timer respond to the buttons on the left, start button over there on the right. Does it display any visible signs of life? lights, cycle status etc? What year range were these made?

TOL Kenmore!

The rack was changed to straight pins not a exact match for that model, but it will more than due. I like the loading but did not get to see it run. Louis will wait for a full load.

Models!

What year range were these made?
These were made from mid 1975 until early 1980. The earlier models had the straight pin bottom racks. The later version had the loops. The loops are a nusence to load. The next series after this had made changes from 6 water changes in normal cycle to 5 water changes with a longer wash time. After the next series about 1983 they got rid of the loop rack design.

Oh WOW....how cool....I didn't notice the panel that slides and hides the controls, until Petes brochure.......
when you think about it, futuristic for its time, thats what you see today on a lot of models is hidden controls....

I have a manual for this machine (I have the next one down in the model hierarchy)- just let me know if you would like me to send you the scans or if you might like a photcopy.
A very dear friend of mine had the same machine, but it was Canadian-built. His was Coppertone, too!! Yours is in wonderful condition - congratulations!!

My all time favourite dishwasher. My aunt had one in harvest gold and mine is white. Can I ask why you dislike the loop racks?

I can answer the 2 questionws asked.

Underneath: When Lou came by me to pick up he had to disconnect dishwasher from the hot water and Drain. The only thing under there was a few cobwebs. The dishwasher was hooked up permanant and sat next to the sink not in use. There was no rust at all. The dishwaser was not used for about 7 years. I was surpriosed when he took it home and cleaned it up a little an ran it there were no leaks.

Racks: Lou and Peter both feel that the pointed racks can be loaded eaasier thatn the existing ones. It does kind of make sense. That night Lou installed the pin racks befoer we all left.

Thanks
Bill

I always thought this was one of the more elegantly styled of the later D&M machines for Sears. Once they went to the curved, sculpted-looking panels, they lost me. I had a Roper branded D&M in this house when I bought it with similar humpy-rack dividers and didn't like it either. Too limiting but it was a good cleaning machine, quiet and perfectly satisfactory until began to drool. Good to see you guys having fun with a beautiful find!

KM D&M DW

Its neat to see one of these DWs that survived and I an sure that you will have fun with it and hopefully it will last a few years for you. The loop racks were very hard if not impossible to load pots and pans and deep containers on, my first partners condo that he bought in 1980 had the more basic version of this DW with loop racks. But that wasn't the biggest problem with that awful DW, we sent it out within 3 months time  and installed a WP SHU9900 fully electronic machine.
