SEARS LADY

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I'm so impressed with Sears design, styling, and the variations of models they presented during the 60s & 70s.  This DW is so cool.  We had a similar unit growing up, still remember smelling the Cascade and "All" DW detergent scents when they drained into the sink.  That machine cleaned very well - with no pre-rinsing.  Friends had a front load version - remember the lady stacking large mixing bowls on top of the plates in lower rack - literally packed them in - everything clean. My how times have changed - not for the better.  Quality and styling are nearly non-existent in today's options.  Does anyone even offer a top load DW anymore?  Can't find the words to say how cool this DW is to me.

I have decided to start watching this on Ebay

I have it's sister (also in Coffee Brown). The only difference is the status indicator. My status indicator is round. The status indicator on this one seems to be a linear configuration.

The exterior seems to be in rough shape. I was thinking about getting it just for parts.

If anybody else is after this let me know (I don't really need it, I am fast becoming a hoarder, LOL).

The top loaders were nixed because of the need to remove the top basket in order to get to the lower, the need to reach down into the machine to get those dishes on the bottom, and because it's difficult to build in.

Late 60s LKM Top Loading Portable DW

Interesting machine but the quality of these machines was terrible, yes fairly good cleaning but inferior finishes and very poor durability coupled with life spans that make today's Frigidaire DWs look good LOL.

Good Museum Piece, John L.
