Sears fading away?

Somehow I doubt it. The Sears that I go to are usually crowded. My family have been loyal Sears customers s since the early 1930's. I've gotten most of my appliances there. And most of the power tools, just like my dad.

I have my doubts on this as well

Because here in canada sears is also a popular store and in my area thesears stores that are closing is because they did not went to renew there rent in the shoping mall where they open full stores and decided to convert these 3 closing stores in the province of quebec into service counters and i think that they went to negociate with other stores to see if they would accept to sell the kenmore brand of appliance to expand the brand

It's a bit strange to be licensing the Kenmore name. After all, there is no such thing as a Kenmore factory; the name itself represents products produced by 3rd party mfgs with some design changes/upgrades as arranged by Sears, and then the Kenmore badge gets slapped on the result. If the Kenmore name is licensed, there probably won't be much to distinguish the resulting Kenmore badged product from the mfg's other products.

And it's possible it will represent an even steeper drop in the quality of Kenmore products. Witness, for example, what happened to the Westinghouse name. It got licensed to shlock small appliance mfgs/distributors, and the result has been shoddy products that mock the memory of the good stuff that Westinghouse once produced.

Anyway, the Sears Holding Co., or whatever KSears is calling itself these days, must be a bit desperate for cash flow if they are thinking of further debasing the Kenmore name.
