Well tried this detergent again today and I had a lot of suds residue, so I'm not convinced that the change is not for the better with this product.I did two extra rinses to clear it out but it did go away (thankfully).
Are there any suggestions as to any other powder to use other than Tide as I have always had a suds problem when doing towels with a liquid.
Thank you for any help here. :)

You

have to use only the recommended amount of the new Tide Ultra or even less because of residue. If you use the same amount as you did on the old version of Tide your clothing will be covered with residue. I want my old Tide back !!

The formulation sold in Canada must be quite different than what is sold in the US.  About 45 minutes ago I finished washing a Velux blanket in my '71 Maytag 806s with 1 level scoop of Sears orange box detergent, and there were absolutely no suds at all.  The only other addition to the wash water was a 1/2 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax.  Even when the washer pumped out the wash water, there were next to no suds to be seen.  So I don't know what to tell you Dean.  Do you have natural or mechanically soft water?

That is why no one detergent can make everyone happy

Some like more suds, some like less suds . some more fragrance some less. and on and on. Also just cause a detergent works well in one washer does not mean it will in another place. I have see laundrys across the street from each other with the same washers and the chemicals would not work the same for both plants. just to many variables.

Roscoe, what does the box look like? What is the product number (example - 32.9879)? Does it give a phone # to call if you have questions?

The box I got says "Made in U.S.A." and "Distributed by Sears, Roebuck & Co., Hoffman Estates, IL 60179".

If the product number does not start with "32", (the vendor code indicating DeSoto Chemical, just like 110. is the code for Whirlpool laundry appliances) then it is most likely made by another manufacturer, and therefore a totally different formulation than what is sold here.

@ CircleW

Lets try this again :0
I have the number 11 followed by 53072 on the box.
Last time I ordered it was 53075 but the content of the box as I explained to the clerk has changed and not the packaging from last time and apparently so has the item according to the operator since Sears order number has changed three times since last August. There is no number to call on the box so I guess the change may only be here, only time will tell? The operator did say that they would have the buyer contact me concerning the product.
So it's back to the ole drawing board.
