AEG Lavamat nova regina model number
Mr Paul - Your Excellency
Thank you so much for your prompt reply, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
These are the numbers on the front of the machine:
Typ 605 131 355
F. Nr. 25/2775 23
Nova REG
At first, I though that the "F" in F. Nr. meant it was a French serial number, but in fact they bought the machine in Germany and it's clearly a model for the German market since all the washing instructions are in German. Could it be for 'Federal'?
As to the part which is broken, I'm pretty sure that it's the first you mention, i.e. the drum spider:
a) because the bloke from the shop which repaired the old girl about three years ago (when Regina had the only other glitsh she's known) said that the part we need is attached to the shaft - and I can see in your picture that this is the case with the drum spider - and that we might be able to recover the old shaft and fix the new "croisillon de tambour" onto it. He also said we would almost certainly be able to get the bearings from SKF or a similar firm even if AEG won't supply them - I've done this with crank shaft and gearbox bearings in my old Honda;
b) because I have opened the back of the machine and can see what I think is the drum pulley (the big wheel with the belt around it) and can't see any cracks on it; and
c) above all because when I went to the shop with the washing machine diagram I'd downloaded from the net the bloke definitely did not point to the drum pulley (see below)... However, here are the rubs.
1. I can't manage to find any mention of a machine starting with the serial number 605131 on the main French AEG/Electrolux site or any other French search engines (and don't speak any German so haven't yet tried on the German one).
2. I did find the washing machine diagram (which I've tried to attach) on an English spare parts website - I thought it was the main AEG/Electrolux one but apparently not since can't see it on their list. However, the serial number they gave for Lavamat Nova Regina does not exactly correspond to the number on our machine:
E. Nr. 605 131 905/915 (instead of 355 at the end). Presumably the "E" in E. Nr. means English Number - but is it possible that all of the last three digits in the number are country specific?
3. The main thing, though, is that you can't actually see the drum spider in the diagram, so that when I showed the diagram to the bloke in the shop, he at first pointed to the end of the shaft, and underlined a part number (864 167 000), which, when he looked it up on his (Portuguese - to make matters simple! - search engine) turned out to just be a washer on the shaft. He therefore concluded that what I needed was part 645 406 640 (or 540?) which appears to be the shaft itself, on the assumption that it comes as just one piece. Since I don't know the first thing about washing machines, I can't help being a little sceptical - how come is such a large and apparently indispensable part not listed or illustrated or a diagram which appears to list every single bearing, circlip and washer?
Anyway, that's about as much info as I can give - assuming I can't manage to find the part itself, is it completely impossible to get one machined - giving all the specs to a private engineering firm? I know it would be horribly expensive, but would it actually be impossible to get those specs from AEG? You would have thought that they might take a certain pride in a machine that's worked so hard for 45 years and might go out of their way to help, but obviously that's not the way the world works... As to your final comment about not chucking her out - well, I think you can see that me mam (and myself too now) are trying to do all we can to keep her alive.
Sorry to have taken up so much of your time.
Kind regards
Jez
