Veg thought someone else should have the fun, and I said "yes." You might want to thank Veg the next time you email or phone, or text, or smoke signal him <br <br
I may live to regret catching the elves, though I rather hope not <br <br
I know that everyone here can be a perfect lady OR gentleman, and I hope that shall be so throughout the Holiday Season <br <br

Well, this is my first time.

I was told that ladies actually say, "You were not my first, but my second". The gullible fool about to put a ring on their finger buys it hook, line and sinker, and everytime. <br
Congratulations on your endeavor <br
Ho Ho Ho to all the big Ho-s!

Forgive my stupidity

I didn't do this last year. Am I right in thinking that if I sign up, I'll get a gift from a Secret Santa, and not know who that person is? And meanwhile, I give a gift to a different person who doesn't know who I am? It seems to me that I recall doing something like this years back <br
I'll seriously consider this. It could be fun <br
Lawrence: others have landlines still. It's required if one has DSL Internet. And I bet around here, there is more than one person with a rotary dial phone connected to that landline!

You won't know until

you open the package(! <br <br
I always include my name INSIDE the box <br <br
And yes, you send something (nice, we hope), anonymously to another member of AW.org <br <br
I have DSL from AT&T, so I have the landline <br <br

Thanks! I was pretty sure I knew how this worked...but I'm careful since I've been "pretty sure" too many times about something that I was really "totally wrong" about!

Pretty in Pink

BUMP <br

I have a DSL and was able to drop my "Ma-Bell" landline <br
I now use a Magic Jack (it's a PHONE LINE dear) via the web for $20 PER YEAR. It has some flaws, but good enough to give out to businesses, banks and credit cards. Most people call me through my cellular/mobile, so I now only give one number out; that of my cellular phone.

Now, please don't be shy!!!!

We haven't had much response from Europe or Australia <br <br
It's easy, and it's a lot of fun <br <br <br

November 16

is this coming MONDAY <br <br
After 12 am(eastern)on November 17, slots for Secret Santa will be CLOSED <br <br
The suggested 20.00 USD limit is so that most people can participate. One year, I sent my partner a jar of soup mix that the high school group of my church made, and a big bag of "pick and mix" candy from the supermarket, and I think something else <br <br
Another year, I sent a small (two inch by three?) sign reading "Downy Lane," two Toblerone bars, a Bic 4 color pen, some fresh AA batteries, and something else, I think <br <br

Santa,

Thank you for clarifying that. It's a tough time for a lot of people right now and that $20max makes sense. It's a max, not the recommended amount, right <br
For some reason, I always get the most wonderful things - things you can't buy where I am, regardless of money. My Slinky is still on my desk in my office at the university, but the great candy from Australia last year...I had to share...never, ever open a present with good candy in it in front of otters, cougars or bears <br
Thanks to all for my great gifts through the years! And thank you, Lawrence, for doing this this year! You're carrying on a great tradition from veg....who did it brilliantly!

I'm not

adamant about the 20.00 US dollars, but it is nice to know that people will try <br <br
I used to participate in Secret Santa on another board (for writers, and would-be writers,) and even though there was a 20.00 suggestion there, too, it was regularly ignored, and some years it got ridiculous....PDAs (the electronic assistant types), iPods.....huge bottles of perfume or illegally shipped liquor... <br <br
So, the 20.00 is a strong suggestion, but if it happens to go up to 22.75, ok. 31.95, ok, but pushing it.. <br <br
Again, suggestion <br <br <br

It does? I thought we were supposed to spend-spend-spend-spend and spend some more. It's our duty to go bankrupt to keep the economy moving <br
It's nice to see someone other than me still has ideas that creative gifts are better <br
