Here's a video of our Bosch/Siemens dishwasher getting a deep-cleaning. One thing to note: no, you don't need to clean and maintenance a Euro dishwasher so thoroughly – I just wanted to give “her” a little treat, so to say, and keep everything as clean as possible. On average, I clean the filter maybe once a month and a deep-cleaning is done once a year.

This is a really great dishwasher – lots of power. Just look at the water shooting all the way up to the top. One of these days, I’m gonna have to remove the upper spray arm and run it just like one of these vintage dishwasher which only had one wash arm under the lower rack and see how it does!

So here’s the link to the video. Make sure you watch in high quality (once processing is done)!

Thank you for the video! Always wondered what went on in my dishwasher! I never knew it was so easy to remove the tracks on the upper level!

I have a question for you though: Is there a service mode on these machines? When i first got my dishwasher i pushed the wrong buttons while setting the water softener and the code that came up was not in the manual.

Thanks!

Bosch upper basket runners

Yes, they do get rather cruddy with residue, because of a design flaw:

other makes have the open side of the runners facing inwards towards the spray action. Self-cleaning - end of story.

Bosch's face away from the spray, hence the reason for the crud. Even running cleaning cycles doesn't clean them properly, as a white gritty residue forms on them.

Yes, there is a programming mode of some sort. I came across the manual for our dishwasher by chance as I browsed through the parts register on the B/S/H page. The manual has instruction in it how to change the programming code that is how to select a different set of cycles. As I understand, there are different "sets" of cycles installed on the motherboard (or whatever) and according to which Programming Code is selected, the buttons will have a different set of cycles.

Our cyles/options are:

auto Intensive
auto Daily
Economy
Quick Wash
Prerinse
varioSpeed
Half Load

If I changed the Programming Code, I could also get Soak, Top Rack Only, auto Delicate, Plate Warming... Unfortunately, you cannot choose any cycle in any combination you want - you'll have to go with a pre-set arrangement.

Cool, I had a look on the UK parts list and couldn't find it. Would be interested to know what other options my machine has.

I have a SGS46E22 dishwasher and although its great, I wish I had a proper 70 degree intensive wash for cleaning the machine out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

David
