Having scored a primo rental in Arizona Sky Village to watch the Perseid meteor shower this year in August under a nearly Moon-free sky and with a full Moon burning out next year's show, I contemplated an alternative: just for the heck of it, live for a week in an Eichler home.

Between Airbnb.com and HomeToGo.com, I can't find a single one for rent in the three Southern California Eichler neighborhoods of Orange, Granada Hills and Thousand Oaks.  Eichlers for rent are plentiful up in the Bay Area.  An Eichler would make a great home base from which to explore the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

You'd think the proximity of Orange, California to Anaheim would have inspired at least one owner to tout a Disney tie-in: Visit Disneyland. SLEEP in TOMORROWLAND!

Looks like Geeks, Nerds and Eichler next year, if I can get my sister and her husband to split the rent like this year.

possible

that with California's high prices and space at a premium in the smaller homes in those areas, they are not offered for rent because families or couples live in them full time.
I guess you either love an Eickler home or hate them. Nice plentifull light for sure. Developers in the bird streets adjacent to Beverly hills often bull doze them.
I don't get why, you can update the interiors to most any taste. Southern Cal. living is supposed to be about the out doors, and swimming pools.
Full time rental homes are not very desirable in established residential middle class neighborhoods because they have a stigma of transiency, and can lower property values.

I have relatives in unincorporated Stanford, California whose home and entire neighborhood is either Eichler or Eichler-inspired (some builders acquired plans from Eichler and built similar homes after Eichler himself stopped building homes). I live in OC but have never seen the Eichler homes in OC (Villa Park, city of Orange, etc.)

Maybe

some in Garden Grove?
How about in LA county; Hawthorne, or Downey before they cleared way for the 105 freeway? Maybe some were taken for the 605 also?
We had a local builder here named Weinberger. They built high quality brick ranches and colonials with some custom features like large bow or bay windows, pillars and columns, semi and custom kitchens, and split rock brick fire places and hearth's. Some have slate or marble foyer floors too.
Some were built before 1960, so have wet plaster walls.
