A few days ago, someone posted about sensible appliance adds, without drama, etc. I typed reply post how advertizing is part of the marketing for sales. Without it, you don't sell much. Or did I forget to hit post, and log out?
I said that advertizing appeals to our psychies and converges our needs into wants as well. That the main economic entities in NY city are advertizing, modeling, entertainment (broadway, tv., music), fashion, food, and finance. The latter being so in part because of the prior ones.

I didn't recall the thread, but after reading Kieth Bradford White's comment I do.
"Take it as a compliment of how wealthy we are as a nation".
I have some case of winter blahs. This would be the time of year we go someplace warm for a week. No place outside the US will have us. Not even Canada. You have to have official business and a negative covid test for entry.
