and the drum

Not a spin cam drum like yours Darren but more conventional holes. 1300 spin is very short, spends more time at 1000 but quite effective all the same. Same motor as the old Hotpoints so makes a good noise!

Chevron

Hi Steven, nice machine, I think it was also done in white as well with red lettering.

This was the style of machine that Servis also built for Hitachi in the 80`s..

The type of drum changed from the Spin-Care drum to the "Chevron" drum, more holes but patterned like a chevron grid pattern but pointed. Also better for the dryer process.

Where does the dryer vent into the drum??

Cheers, Mike

Motor

Hi SPARKCYMRU

Great machine and superb fascia!

When you say that this one had a Hotpoint type motor, is it also mounted at the top of the machine like the Hotpoints were? I'm guessing it's nice and noisy like you say if it's a GEC motor. I think it's been mentioned that Darren's (1983ish) has a Hoover style motor.

I have fond memories of Wales, working in a Cardiff fish and chip shop which my girlfriend's family used to own. Best fish and chips I've ever had........

Hope you are keeping well

Nick

motor

The motor is mounted at the base unlike the hotpoint. I only found out it was the same motor when i was trying to find brushes for it and an ex servis engineer told me what to look for. The dryer vents into the drum at the top front of the seal slightly off centre. This machine seems to to have mostparts dated 1989 and 1990 inside.

Hi Steven,

Grand machine there! I love the control panel. Are those buttons at the right for on/off, start and door open? I guess they are but the edge of the picture chops off the labels!

I love the brown though. So very 80s!! The chevron drum is great too - bet it looks cool during the spin :-).

Take care,

Jon
