Servis supertwin 108, spin bearing change.

Hi, just thought as this is the first time ive worked on the spin dryer on a servis supertwin, it would be worth recording the operation for future reference, and to share with anyone else who may need to do the same repair.

Of course typically for me the machine is apart before I think of getting the camera.

first thing

Is to drift out the cotta pin sercuring the pulley to the spin drum shaft.

Typical, the photo I took is after I'd removed it.

.....Mathew for the pics. Let me know how you get on as mine is now getting to the point where the grinding is unbearable although it gets better by the end of the wash. This, of course, is not helped by the machine being used less and less as more machines turn up here (miraculously) and there's no more laundry than there was before.

Any tips would be good for when I get around to doing mine, although I've got to find the bearing first.

Back to the outer container

all rust treated and sprayed with an aerosol galvanising spray. Im not sure what the best product would be here, as I knew that you need a special primer to paint over galvaised surfaces and of course im impacent, so I can say this will be a once and for all rust proofer.

Note how you can see the pump impellor through the drain hole.

the bearing housing

complete with spin drum goes through the rubber mounts, the brake mounting plate and then the large nut goes on to secure the whole thing, and the metal leaf get bent up to stop the nut working loose.

and brake reattached, you can now see the cotta pin in the large pulley mounting block. Also put the belts back on.

Back to join

the washtub, i found it easier to attach the rubber gaskets onto the top deck, and then put the spinner in positon and clamp it onto the outer container.
