Its a twin to mom's range. The large wheels plastic wheels that turn the cleaning mechanisms on the back of the range are easily moved to release the oven and return the function to baking. Sometimes they slip a tooth or it could be the clock failed. Either way dare I pick it up and build the new kitchen around it for the house that might be?

Kelly,

If you don't, you'll regret it forever.

Yes, it will take some work. On the other hand, no oven my mother ever had baked as evenly as her French-door Frigidaire of that era.

Go for it! Life is too short not to.

Mama's Range

Hi Kelly,

Go for it. You can always pass it on, although maybe you shouldn't. I bought a 1946 Roper Range for $5 at an auction for Grandmama's house, and finally after...um...six months without the house, it was time to pick up the range or resell it. I kept the sunburst broiler pan and the auctioneers sold the range for me for $10. Still wish I'd kept the range, but the broiler pan is a show stopper. Like panthera said, "Life is too short not to" if you really, really want it.

Best,
Sarah

It's worth taking because-----

-----the Frigidaire self cleaners were released around 1965. One year after the GE P7s.The door lock location gives this one away because in 1969,the latch was relocated in front of the oven above the door opening like the GE P7s.The Custom Imperial 40 inch models are great and have the Speed Heat and Heat Minder burners as well as the Cookmaster controls and were able to have the rotisiery optiion for bar-b-q and such.If this one has it,there were also CI models that had "Electriclean Plus" where the left oven panels and base came out to be cleaned at the same time in the main oven cavity. They also made a great "Twin-30" range that also had removeable oven panels and Speed Heat and Heat Minder burners.Either one worked great and had marvelous features.

The door lock sounds like it needs to be replaced or rigged somehow.
