Shock Absorbers For Miele 10XX Series

Does anyone know if the shock absorbers for the Miele w1065/w1070 are located in front or back of the drum?

MieleUSA has told us in no uncertain terms to push off and not to contact them again regarding our washer. Our account as been labeled "unserviceable" and so for the remaining life of the machine (assuming we wish to continue using/keep it), we are on our won. Immer Besser my behind! *LOL*

Can order shocks from various sources in Europe either Miele or generic, just want to find out what is involved. If it can be done as a simple DIY job or will one have to find a repair service willing to tackle a Miele.

IIRC, Yes

EU versions of the W1070 are the s770 series.

What limited information one was able to wring out of a Miele telephone tech was (according to how he was viewing parts picture) was that the shocks are in the front of the machine and *should* be easily swapped. He had me until started rabbiting on about taking off the *right* side panel where one had to stop him; Miele washers of this series have a solid casing and other than the front service door neither back nor sides open.

How does one get their Miele Warranty/Support account labelled as "unserviceable?" It sounds like someone has been trying to wring out a LOT of information!

Sauce Box!

Machine is >10 years old and out of warranty. Only have required the minor repairs to a washing machine of it's age so far (water valve, door boot, pump, etc).

The writting off of my machine comes from information a field tech gave to MieleUSA when he was here to sort out if the unit required new motor brushes. Apparently wiring is "brittle" and certain plastic parts did not meet his standards. This produced worry that if he damaged same during a service call I would hold himself and Miele responsible.

All I have to say is

_some build quality! They really back their machines don't they, so unlike how Fred was treated when his service guy showed up to tweak the >20 year old pushbutton Maytags!

 

I thought the German's had pride in their engineering. Does Miele own the US service and sales here?

Wow, Launderess, talk about being snubbed! It's like standing in line outside your favorite club, then being told by the bouncer you're not cool enough to be allowed in.

It really surprises me that Miele would treat its customers that way.

It Is Not Uncommon From Miele

Not that Internet postings represent a great majority of a population, but yes Miele does have a habit of "cutting their losses" on an appliance if deemed "unserviceable" and or something they no longer wish to bother with.

Standard proceedure is what has happened to one; a replacement appliance is often offered at discount (butnot always), and that is that.

MieleUSA does have a limited number of "trained" repair persons certified to work on their appliances. Mr. Appliance in our area is one such company. KMS is the other.

MieleUSA will *NOT* supply service information up to and including diagrams etc to consumers. Asked and was flat out told where to get off. "That information is proprietary" was told. "Only available to Miele employees and certified technicans" was told. Well if MieleUSA will no longer work on my machine how is one supposed to make the repairs I asked. "You can contact a certifed Miele repair service and they can contact us directly", was told further.

There are complaints of Miele's high handing customers from OZ to EU and points in between. Miele has told owners of their washers that their local water supply was to blame for bearings, seals and other problems with newly purchased units and as such they will not offer a replacement or even make repairs in some cases.

One sees plenty of 48XX series washers and dryers all over CL and similar sites. Also see more than a handful of 1900 and 1200 units on the same places being offered for sale because a single part such as a motherboard has failed. These units are ten or less years in use and apparently the call out and parts charges are more than the machine is worth to the sellers.
