Shopping for new range

My interest is now in buying a new range. I currently own a current Sears Kenmore made by Electrolux. It's nothing fancy. Just a regular ceramic top with a programmable self cleaning oven. I rarely use its cooktop because I have two portable induction cooktops which I adore because they're faster,more precise and easy to clean. Id like to get either a GE slide in dual convection model or a Frigidaire. The Frigidaire has two even ovens. Both the same cavity size with induction cooktop. They both retail for around $4,000.00. I want it in white because everything else is white on white. My next big project here is redoing the kitchen. I want to keep the same appliances but replace all the cabinets,countertops and flooring. We desperately need more cabinet space but have to get the right style that will accommodate our needs.I'm looking at hard wood flooring and track lighting and need to enlarge the eighteen inch built in dishwasher to a standard twenty four. Then convert the Kenmore to a built in.

It sounds like you have an idea with what you want to go with for your remodel. Since you like the induction portables so much I would go with the Frigidaire that you mentioned.

It would be great if we could see some before and after shots of your kitchen as you go along.

Lowes in my area has a very nice Samsung induction range for $1199.  Odds are it would be much more in Hawaii, but it appears to be a nice unit.

I'm wondering if it's possible to convert an old Corning-style ceramatop range/cooktop to induction and keep it's original look? I guess if that worked, they'd be easier to keep clean?!

Induction

I have wondered about that too although I suspect it would be horrifically expensive. Over here the vast majority of induction tops have touch controls so a large part of the control panel would be obsolete.

I must say if it were me and I had the portable units I would just buy and oven to build in and not a range so that when extra space was needed for baking etc. one or both of the portable induction tops could be put away making more space for mixers, cooling racks and the like. in fact I have often considered getting rid of my built in induction top and using portables in this very manner for, truth to tell, it is very seldom I need four "burners"
